TheSpiritualPilgrim
One of my Christian friends has started posting these "morning thought" posts on facebook. Today it was "Don't forget, God loves you!". My morning thought was, if there is a "god" who loves me then shouldn't he tell me himself? The fact that Christians have to speak for their "god" and constantly remind each other that their "personal god" loves them is the most ridiculous thing to me. It goes to prove that he is not actually there because if he were, why would he not tell me himself? It's just Christians constantly trying to pump each other up to stray away from their own intellectual doubt by giving them their daily dose of brainwashing. If god loves me, then he can tell me himself! If my entire life I had only heard from strangers or friends that my mom loved me but never from my mom herself, why would I believe that love.. unless somehow my mom could not speak for herself? But isn't it absurd to think that god needs all these followers running around to proclaim his love for people that don't know him? I thought the holy spirit was supposed to reveal all truth? Anyways I know this argument has been said many times but this is the rant section.. Had to get some thoughts of my chest. Thanks for reading.

This crap annoys me just like people who always feel the need to "bless me" or wish me a "blessed day". The second one wants to make me puke. Who is blessing me? God is a fantasy so he surely isn't. So if they are blessing me personally why should I care. They have zero power to bring blessings to me anymore than they know god loves me. Fantasy is still fantasy really doesn't matter what fake dude loves some real person.
ExXex
I know right? Surely it wouldn't hurt him to send us a valentine's card once in a while Maybe god just thinks of you when he touches himself.

This made me smile picturing god on some cloud filling out a valentine's day card for me... But don't give Christians any ideas.. they may start writing each other valentiene's day cards and signing it on god's behalf, writing the return address as heaven.. I mean shit we do it with santa clause and the North Pole.

You don't see people posting "don't forget, your mother loves you" or "your spouse loves you"! We know whether or not those people love us. Super Moderator TheRedneckProfessor Posted September 24, 2013 Super Moderator Share Posted September 24, 2013 This thread sort of reminds me of a conversation I have with my boss every year at christmas. He always asks me if I am willing to work on christmas day and I always say I am. Then he asks if I'm sure because, "after all, it's christmas day." And I always respond, "Jesus never showed up to any of my birthday parties, why should I go to his?"
amateur
Redneck Professor: Touche!!!! I also like when I've heard entire sermons about how they can piece together evidence that Jesus actually EXISTED!!!! Yea!!!! A half hour of the pastor talking about old texts, scraps of scrolls, whatever, that mention the name "Jesus" or whatever, dated about whatever the years were. Hello, if the guy existed then we don't need proof -- he's flipping GOD and can say HI HERE I AM!!! Just tell us what he said. If he said great things then that's awesome. But Jesus said some contradictory things, and some not nice things, too. And his followers are all over the place and have made up all kind of shit about what he said and what he supposedly meant. If Jesus is so omnipotent he should have clearly stated what he wanted to say so all people of all times could easily understand his meaning. So I don't really care if he existed or not. It's not like at the beginning of the college semester, the first class of every subject is the professor proving the existence of Galileo or Plato or, um, other smart people (I'm really tired and still at work) before they can go on to the second class and teach science or philosophy or, um, other smart subjects. I just think it's weird that if the congregants have been attending church their whole lives (and lots of them have), why suddenly at age 58 do I need proof that this guy exists that I've been worshipping since I've been 3? There is a certain desperation in those sermons. I don't know if I'm making sense. I'm really tired and don't think I'm saying it right. But I know what I mean, and those sermons are so annoying. If God and Jesus are so omni-everything, they should have NO TROUBLE showing us that they exist and they should have NO TROUBLE telling us they love us, or are going to send us to hell, or WHATEVER THEY WANT TO TELL US BECAUSE IF THEY ARE OMNI-EVERYTHING, THEY CAN DO IT!!! Oh, I'm tired and starting to rant. Good night!
Astreja
Já, what's with all these self-appointed spokesmen, anyway? I've started telling people that I'm no longer accepting representations from mortals on behalf of the gods, and will only speak to their god in person, in the flesh, on My turf.

MerryG
Thank you, SpiritualPilgrim! I have that same thought myself each time some grinning idiot proclaims, "God loves you!" Usually I just grit my teeth and think it. But the one time I dared respond (politely) aloud, the "God loves you!" person immediately turned into a "God will punish you in hell for all eternity!" person. Great. Just the kind of "love" we all need. OTOH, "God loves you so much he wants to torture you forever" types are better than a woman I used to be on an email list with. Her sig line was, "Teddy bear love from God and me." Boggled my mind. I kept wanting to ask, "Have you ever read the OT? Or studied the history of Christianity? Teddy bear love? Srsly?" Cut to the interview with the woman who lived there, who said, ( and I quote), "GOD IS SO GOOD!! HE SAVED US FROM THE FIRE!" Seriously?? Virtually all of the local TV stations in my area are Christian owned and will use every opportunity to push "God" into a news story. Disasters are wonderful opportunities to do this. There was an episode of The Simpsons where a tornado struck and in the aftermath the sign outside Rev. Lovejoy's church said "God welcomes his victims". The sad part is that a cartoon show, rather than an actual news show, is where one can find objectivity.

People don't seem to understand what is going to happen in the religious zealots get in control of the total media and government...I mean seriuosly does anyone see this as the end to our way of life or not? I will not bow to a god any god. They day they come to make me only one party will be walking away. I will let almost anything slide in real life. Try and tell me or make me thing in certain ways and I will fight like a cornered wolverine or badger. You can have my mind when you cut if from my cold dead head. Shauna
This is actually a huge reason why I decided to delete my Facebook account. So many of my friends and family would post on FB a picture of Jesus that would say something like "Share this if you love Jesus, ignore if you dont" and then everyone would share it and I was reminded that they are all still trapped by superstitions and brainwashing. I wanted to shake them all and post comments that asked them "Why?!" But if I say anything that challenges their beliefs I instantly become the enemy. One time I just liked a status that questioned religion hypocrisy, it showed up on other people's walls that I liked it and I got a scathing email from one of my husband's relatives. I am so thankful for Ex-C because otherwise I would feel alone in this.

I would simply put the god-bots on ignore, but when I made a comment or liked something they disagreed with, they made no hesitation to come to my page and let me know how I offended them and god. I never went to their page and commented on their stupidity, but they did with me all the time. It is also quite disheartening to see people who you know do not believe, go to church, or even vote republican like and support those stupid "if you love jesus..." posts. One thing I could never understand, is when I would post an article about the vatican knowing about and covering up abuse, these jesus bots would comment that "the percentage of abusive priests is very small." I could not seem to get them to understand it is about the coverup from the elite that is the most offensive. They never seemed to grasp that concept...
