Raoul, you mean that Pastor Appreciation Day is a thing? Holy crap! Driving to and from work I saw a church sign about it, and then Pastor Appreciation Month... I thought they were just being extra money-grubbing and desperate. I guess it turns out they were, just not in the way I assumed. I thought it was made-up. But... actually a thing. That's somehow even worse. Love the videos.

Unfortunately real.  There was a big to-do about it in the city I live in.  All the pastors could gather and get a free meal and free atta-boy pats on the back.

Confession: I'll be the first to admit that these sort of days made me cringe so that I would nearly fall out of my chair. Whether it was for a pastor's birthday or appreciation month, I felt like it always put me in an awkward position. Though I tried with all I had in me to be happy for the pastors of the church, for some reason I just did not like the idea of having to sit through an extra twenty minutes and watch people give them gifts.

Boy, that does sound awkward. I think what gets me about this is that pastors have a position of respect and authority in the community, and the community already completely supports them with their money anyway. There's just something very blatantly sleazy about taking advantage of that respect, authority and immense trust to insist on even more money. It's morally bankrupt.
