Is The Bible "clear" On Oppression?

Is the bible clear on oppression or is it just some imaginary oppression that doesn't exist? In my opinion, many modern Christians feel that this notion of oppression dates all the way back to the fictional characters Adam and Eve. That "thousands" of biblical years have passed and people are still carrying the weight of "the fall of men" Or could it be that the people that I've been around who discuss being afflicted by/dealing with oppression, are actually referring to real life oppression towards certain groups?

The reason I ask is because I'm not sure if they know who they were referring to. There are women being oppressed in all different parts of the world, minorities being oppressed, and LGBT people as well. Who, if not these people, is being oppressed? And by whom? There was never any discussion about these people, just inside of our church bubble, and that's it. Can anybody help me out? Let's talk about oppression! ~woohoo

It talks about all of man kind carrying the weight of the fall but, it does cast the jewish people as outsiders in quiet a few places.

"Oppression" ?

Have you read the Bible, cover to cover, and not skipping any of the uncomfortable bits? It's literally stuffed with rape, genocide, slavery, etc. (Often all of the above.) Really. Now, the rationale of the Bible is that it was commanded by God, so it's okay. I want nothing to do with any religion that thinks like this: that all these atrocities are good, as long as God tells you to do them. Note that in a modern society, all of these things aren't just "oppression" they're crimes against humanity. (You'll also find plenty of treating women like livestock, and slavery in general. Yet another reason, I, as a woman, don't want anything to do with Christianity.)

Now, here's a little sample verse... Numbers 31. Lots more where that came from. So, given that all of the very worst stuff in the Bible came straight from God Himself... yeah, there's "oppression" in it... but really I'd call it a whole lot worse than that. "Oppression" is letting it off easily. And if only "oppression" against "chosen people" counts, frankly the entire concept of a "chosen people" I find incredibly offensive - note the deeply ingrained, inherent hypocrisy of that kind of stance...

ExCBooster, the more I study, the more I see the terrible oppression in the bible. I still can't believe that all these years I have been believing that the bible was supposed to be ''The Good News''. I think once a person's eyes are opened, you can never shut out the truth of this book ever again. Sometimes I wish that I had never started studying all of this. It's too late, my heart knows the truth.
