midniterider
Invictus Out of the night that covers me, Black as the Pit from pole to pole, I thank whatever gods may be For my unconquerable soul. In the fell clutch of circumstance I have not winced nor cried aloud. Under the bludgeonings of chance My head is bloody, but unbowed. Beyond this place of wrath and tears Looms but the Horror of the shade, And yet the menace of the years Finds, and shall find, me unafraid. It matters not how strait the gate, How charged with punishments the scroll. I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul. Fernweh
"I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him: I’m ready to accept David Koresh as a great moral teacher, but I don’t accept his claim to be God. That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things David Koresh said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic — on the level with the man who says he is a poached egg — or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut him up for a fool, you can spit at him and kill him as a demon or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God, but let us not come with any patronising nonsense about his being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to. ... Now it seems to me obvious that He was neither a lunatic nor a fiend: and consequently, however strange or terrifying or unlikely it may seem, I have to accept the view that He was and is God."

Minette
Sunday Christianity centered blog posts? That sounds like something best suited for a Christian forum. I'm not sure what purpose it is meant to serve on a Ex-Christian forum in a sub-forum called "The Lion's Den," but hey, more power to ya I guess. The Ex-Christian meme's are amusing

The Ex-Christian meme's are amusing It's a "bless your heart" thing, really. After all we've been through as ExCs, with years and decades of faith and belief, then even more struggle, only to painfully have to face the resounding silence from the God that never was, the earnest dude with the "Bible Verse-a-day" calendar really things that one of these drive-by postings of a book we have already read multiple times and deconstructed will somehow work magically to "bring us back" to believing in Jesus. MerryG
Q: How many atheists does it take to change a light bulb?A: Two. One to actually change the bulb, and the other to videotape the job so fundamentalists won’t claim that god did it. Q: How many creationists does it take to change a light bulb?A: None! They've invented torches! ----- I was walking across a bridge one day, and I saw a man standing on the edge, about to jump off. So I ran over and said, "Stop! Don't do it!" "Why shouldn't I?" he said. I said, "Well, there's so much to live for!" He said, "Like what?" I said, "Well, are you religious or atheist?" He said, "Religious." I said, "Me too! Are your Christian or Buddhist?" He said, "Christian." I said, "Me too! Are you Catholic or Protestant?" He said, "Protestant." I said, Me too! Are your Episcopalian or Baptist? He said, "Baptist!" I said, "Wow! Me too! Are your Baptist Church of God or Baptist Church of the Lord? He said, Baptist Church of God!" I said, "Me too! Are your Original Baptist Church of God or are you Reformed Baptist Church of God?" He said, "Reformed Baptist Church of God!" I said, "Me too! Are you Reformed Baptist Church of God, Reformation of 1879, or Reformed Baptist Church of God, Reformation of 1915?" He said, "Reformed Baptist Church of God, Reformation of 1915!" I said, "Die, heretic scum!" and pushed him off.
