Stryder Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Christian : This is a shock and a surprise considering how zealous you were for the Lord and his word. You shared many a story about witnessing to customers and employees. What has made you reject it all? You mention about some else giving you absolutes. Please remember you are speaking to a philosophical dummy. Me: The bible is a man written book, controlling people through fear of hell and not being good enough. I allowed an emotional experience to be twisted in my mind into a salvation experience. The gospel is easy to preach and I have a talent for arguing, was a match made in heaven. My mind never allowed me the final step thankfully, I never had a prayer life, never stood up in meeting, I would have had to lie. My dad is an athiest, thank god, not raised with the ability to have a one way conversation. Once I realized that it was preposterous to believe in a 6000 yr old universe, I realized the bible had the ability to make me believe a lie, and argue for it, game over. I didn't even get past putting the morality of the bible to the test before I woke up, my goodness. Fuck. Would a loving, all knowing god, create his children with free will knowing they would choose hell? That is not love. If I knew one of my children would go to hell for eternity, I would sterilize myself and have none. Thats not even love, that would be common fucking decency. Scripture fails on every level, now that I look at it objectively, it's almost laughable, accept for one fact, I took the the love that $&% €=× had for me, and I gave her an ultimatum, become a christian or I will leave you (be ye not unequally yoked), I used that beautiful womans love to fucking manipulate her, is that love? god used me to use her love? More fucked! she would've followed me over a cliff. Walked away, almost calmed down. As your friend dude, think about it, objectively, it's no different than any other form of control over humans. Do you think I would do all this for fun, on a whim? Scary shit. Why do christians live in such fear and sadness for the loss of others because they believe the wrong thing? Think, your fuckin smart, piss me off. Am I the voice of satan, or sanity. Last one man, and this is not putting down christians, at all, so think about this: you can talk about sinners and evil, haters of god loving their sin, and I understand all the bad things in this world, but I have seen too much love from some of the people I just described in biblical terms, to be able with clear conscience to apply those terms to said people. Scripture makes claim to the highest form of love, as do christians, but there is love of extremes outside of christianity, the proof is in the pudding. Christian: ÷%#$^, I love you, friend. Wasn't looking to open a discussion at this time. Just want to understand where all this is coming from. In future, I would appreciate it if you not swear. Goodnight. Me:If I said I would appreciate it if you didn't preach the gospel would that be a fair trade? No? Then fuck you, I love you too. Goodnight. Disclaimer : the names of some of the people in this story have been changed to protect the victims of christianity. 1
Stryder Posted April 8, 2014 Author Posted April 8, 2014 Thank you for help sorting out my thoughts everyone, thinking is fucking amazing. 1
Brother Jeff Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Glorious response! Bless the Lard, Brother! Glory!

francesco Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 "what made you reject it all?" *answers...* "i wasnt looking to open a discussion" I wasn't going to open a discussion if it's not fit my view, to be exact 2
amateur Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 "I wasn't looking to open a discussion..." and "In the future, I would appreciate it if you [would] not swear." Wow. I'm glad this person read your response and got a lot out of it!!! I thought you gave an excellent, clear, concise, logical response. I didn't even notice the swearing the first time I read it! I agree that giving someone you love an ultimatum about xianity is wrong, and I'm sorry you were railroaded into doing that. How are things going with your wife, by the way? How is she handling your deconversion? (If you don't want to answer, don't bother!) Hoping things are going well! 1
R. S. Martin Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 "what made you reject it all?" *answers...* "i wasnt looking to open a discussion" I wasn't going to open a discussion if it's not fit my view, to be exact This post helps me better understand some people in my life. Their interest used to seem to keen. But they never provided answers that satisfied me. I was given all the platitudes about the natural mind not understanding the things of the spirit, etc. However, it seemed to me that a Holy Spirit capable of communicating God's own thoughts to His followers should be able to answer my questions fully, given that (according to them) God created my brain and must therefore be bigger and more knowledgeable than me and my brainful of questions. They don't answer that one. I guess it's like you say, Luke, all they want if something that fits their idea. And their idea is that eventually I will succumb.
Moderator TrueFreedom Posted April 10, 2014 Moderator Posted April 10, 2014 Congrats. I would personally try to respect my friend, stop swearing, and try to show some patience and empathy. Peace. 2
Akheia Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 It must have been aggravating to get asked why you deconverted, and then told to shut up once you'd answered.
Super Moderator TheRedneckProfessor Posted April 12, 2014 Super Moderator Posted April 12, 2014 I admit most of the conversations with christians that I have on facebook usually start with, "Hey, I un-friended you. Hope that's okay."
Deva Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 Yes, some people don't want an honest response to their question when it is an answer they don't like. Personally, I don't want to be around people who have blinders on. There was also a lack of respect shown when the other person tried to correct your language.
