Super Moderator TheRedneckProfessor Posted April 17, 2014 Super Moderator Posted April 17, 2014 My parents put Mezuzahs on all their doorposts sometimes during the 90s.
florduh Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 I remember that fad. So-called "Messianic Jews" would come to speak at our church. Zola Levitt was the most popular show on Christian TV. They're still out there; my wife works with two such ladies at her new office. Most of my high school friends were Jewish, my best friend was Jewish, and I dated his sister for a year. Jews have better food than Christians (except for bacon, of course). Maybe getting more Jews into Christianity is a good idea, as long as they bring their recipes and cooking skills.
Ellinas Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 This fashion passed me by unnoticed, but the term "christian orgasm points" nearly made me fall off my chair laughing...
xtify Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 Thankfully, I wasn't a christian in the 90's. I never noticed this fad at that time, but I think it's coming back in style. There seems to be a growing obsession in some christian denominations with the Jewish feasts and setting dates for the rapture.
xtify Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 Speaking of christian fads and putting cloth on your head, has anyone come across this growing christian fad (or return to)? http://www.headcoveringmovement.com
Bhim Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 As far as I know, the Messianic Jewish movement didn't die out in the 90s. My former church had a member of Jews for Jesus give a sermon last decade. I can't imagine how Jews feel having their culture co-opted by the very people who have relentlessly persecuted them since the death of Jesus. Oh wait...I can imagine. This is precisely what Christians do with their ridiculous "Jesus puja." In both cases, Christians play dress up with another religion and pretend they don't believe our mothers will burn in an eternal hell for raising us in the wrong religion, on the off chance that we'll be more favorably disposed to condemn said mothers ourselves by converting. 1
