i posted this, than 3 seconds later i said to myself "i better take this s--- down" i wanted for at least someone to see it though -----

"honest question:

why does god want us to believe in him by faith rather than by sight/reason.

i make informed decisions everyday of my life, both important and frivolous by thinking and reasoning. why does god have to be an exception? if he demands that we deny our ability to reason, than is he hiding something? does he not have an answer for us? i just want to know the truth

Or are the people who created him hoping you don't seriously critically examine the shit they are shoveling at you? If I were making a false religion, the first thing you can bet I would do would be to make critical thinking into a sin and gullibility into a virtue. Seems kind of strange that Christianity seems to involve so much gullible acceptance and mindless obedience, doesn't it?

Faith is the foundation of religion.  I tend to avoid arguing over individual beliefs with people in real life because they can be supported by scripture and doctrinally sound argument.  However, at the root of every individual belief, there is faith.  If you can pull that root out, the rest of the tree will die of natural causes.  Question on, my friend.

To be fair we all do need to make some decisions and judgements based on our own perspective, since that is all we have because we all live in a reality filtered through our own perceptions.  Sight, sound, smell, touch, feel, experience, and our own thoughts and biases.  All can be fooled, but we still need to hold some assumptions since we all see only part of the picture.

While I agree some things need to be taken by belief, but a belief is just that a belief.  Where does the line between belief and assumption lie?  Since now that I think about it with both you are taking something for granted and it may or may not be true.  Hence why it is called belief and not fact.

One thing I wanted to add to the end is that a belief is a judgement call made by the individual about reality, which may or may not be correct.  Ideas are controversial whether it be political, religious, or even philosophical.  All these things are fair game to be argued over and probably have been debated since humanity started developing language.  However, when you cross the line and start claiming something as being fact, now fact is a very special thing since it is either true or false. It needs to hold up to scrutiny.

God has revealed enough of His nature for us to be able to trust Him. He has shown through the events of history, in the workings of nature, and through the life of Jesus Christ that He is all-powerful, all-knowing, all-wise, all-loving, all-holy, unchanging, and eternal. And in that revelation, He has shown that He is worthy to be trusted

Really?

I couldn't get past the part where we are worthless sinners with hearts full of wickedness. So done with all of that.

i can clearly see the faith it took to write this article. especially THAT part in particular. i was off put by the part where he writes (to paraphrase) " god revealing his infinite nature to our finite senses is like trying to shove the ocean in a bottle that holds a quart."

god is limited by the natural laws he created now? plus, we dont need an infinite amount of evidence, we only need some. SOME irrefutable evidence. i think i may post something like this again in "the lion's den"

i would like to know what the apologetic has to say about this.

*tidbit- the protien "laminen" and the x-structure in the messier galaxy 51 is refutable.

Exactly. It's not like God was EVER clear. On anything.
