These are lovely! I have always wanted to get into macro, but haven't ever gotten a lens capable of doing it decently. I've seen people do it by reversing the lenses but I've never tried it. I love the ones with the ants!

Lens reversing is easy and fun. You need any size lens and a reversing lens that fits the filter size of the lens you want to use and a small but sturdy tripod, and a light source. My lens is in the cheap range and the reverse lens keeps the fun affordable, it's only around $20 or less. A little patience and practice can pay off in good to excellent quality of the photo.

Sorry, that should have been you need a reversing ring that fits the filter size of your camera lens to reverse your camera lens.

I've seen more cicada this year than the last nine years I've lived in Nebraska. I have also seen more praying mantis and cicada killers too.

If you have a smart phone, Amazon sells attachments to produce a macro lens for the cell phone camera.

HereticZero ,

These are all incredible, so vivid and lifelike, and with such depth. The bees appear to be emerging from the backgrounds and out of the photos. Your techniques are very impressive. You must be doing this professional, right? If not, I think you should.

I started out as a photographer years ago, in the 1970s but hard luck, poverty, and bad health forced me to sell my gear, including a dark room. Over the last few years I have been able to learn to do this all over again. I've been in digital photography for about two years now and macro for about three months. The learning curve is learning how to make a digital camera perform like a 35 mm. I have the time now and don't have to buy film. It takes patience.

I actually use a canon camera, but I'm very bad at photography. I've taken SOME good photos, but that is rare.
