pratt
i believe many here was once a sunday school teacher, a youth group leader, worship leader or involve in some leadership in your own local church in sometime,,,, after reading the abraham sacrificing isaac on the mountain, i became a little nostalgic, remembering the time on giving a talk to the youth group of the methodist church on the faithfulness of abraham, how faithful and unquestionable faith of abraham had in god,,,,,,, or how great god is, giving his son for us all while we were still sinners to the high school students,,,,,, i was passionate about god and the gospel then,,,, and i was definitely crazy and insane to tell people this crappy stories,,,, and come to think of it now, it was funny like hell that i actually believed what i said during those times,,,,,, what are your stories???? BlindersRemoved
I remember being asked in a job interview, "if there's one person you could have lunch with who would be?" Of course my answer was Jesus. Damn, it's embarrassing to think back on those days.
ironhorse
I have a lot of good memories. Two of my favorite lessons used the songs "What If God Was One of Us?" and "Hell's Bells' as a start to the topics.
Super Moderator TheRedneckProfessor Posted May 23, 2014 Super Moderator Share Posted May 23, 2014 I once spoke about jesus' ability to sleep during the storm at sea. He was able to "rest assured" that god would deliver him from anything that might befall him. If memory serves, this was at one of those christian athlete meetings. Oh, and don't even get me stirred up about Isaiah 6; Lucifer himself would get saved by the sermon I wrote about that passage.
mymistake
Just before I deconverted my wife and I were working in the nursery with the 2-3 year olds. The lesson was to play a Christian music tape for kids. It was playing the song "for the Father up above is looking down with love". I use to listen to it when I was a kid so I though no big deal. I wasn't even thinking about it. Then the next verse came on. Be careful little child what you think. Be careful little child what you think. For the Father up above is looking down with love. So be careful little child what you think. I did a double take. Did that verse always exist? Did they play that when I was a kid? Isn't thought crime wrong? Oh it game me all kinds of uncomfortable questions. I didn't deconvert on the spot but it was a very memorable (and unpleasant) moment in my process. Why would God be offended by the thoughts of a child?
