ironhorse
""Is it more logical to believe that god would do nothing; or is it more logical to conclude that there is no god and that is why nothing happens when people pray?" In my experience, I believe things do happen when I pray. One thing is that I feel God's presence and peace. I pray for people I know who are sick or in need. Sometimes my request are answered in a way I understand. Sometimes they are not answered in a way I understand. midniterider
"Ask the Father whatever you will in my name, and he will give it you." -Jesus- No qualification there. It didn't say ask whatever "spiritual" thing you wish. If prayer works, "Praise Jesus!" If prayer don't work, "You took the scripture out of context! It doesnt mean what you think it means...." midniterider
Because God is everywhere and all knowing..... why do you think everything is underhis direct control? I don't think there is a God , nor a God that is in control of anything whatsoever. I only mention God in a hypothetical way.
Roz
Because God is everywhere and all knowing..... why do you think everything is underhis direct control? blind assertions != facts. You can't even prove there's just 1 god, let alone prove that your bible god is the true god. If you had been born in Saudi Arabia, you would be a Muslim instead of a christ groupie. Sometimes they are not answered in a way I understand. So you're happy with any result then from the random number generator God? Must cause some mental discomfort when you're prayer isn't answered in a way you understand the way you want? Do you ever get angry when God doesnt answer your prayer the way you like? Do you ever get angry at God? Do you ever wonder if he is really there? Do you ever question God's judgment? Do you ever criticize God's decisions? Do you ever get tired of protecting a God who probably isn't really there?

Tell me, what do you say to muslims who say that their prayers are answered, too? Is god answering muslims' prayers? Or are they just fooling themselves? They say they feel god's presence. Logical or not, that's how I dance You feel your god's presence and peace when you pray because you have already convinced yourself that he exists. If you were unconvinced and unable to convince yourself that he was real, but still wanted to believe anyway, you wouldn't feel anything. I have felt what I thought was Yahweh's presence and peace before, in the past. It was a placebo and nothing more. Also, if you were to pray to a milk jug, you would get the same results as you get by praying to Yahweh. Hell, you could pray to a pile of cow shit and get the same results.
