Long Time Gone... Need A Place To "hide".

Dear ExC,

It's been a very long time (nearly four years) since I've been here. I hope I'm finding you all well and loving God with all your hearts.

Kidding. Just kidding. Relax.

Just before I left ExC, things were... I don't know, looking positive, maybe?

My wife (a committed Jebus-lover) was actually starting to take baby-steps towards freeing herself from the morass of religion she had buried herself in.

Unfortunately, relationships with family members, job struggles and other pressures sent her running right back to the Buy-Bull and the Whorely Spook.

These days, we're in serious straits; if I didn't have someone paying for the roof over our heads, we'd be in even more serious trouble.

Naturally, the Christians around us are doing what they always do... just enough to keep the Mrs. attached to them emotionally, and ZERO for our practical needs.

I've gotten asked "how are you doing" by circus clowns (literally!) more times than I've been contacted by the people my wife claims are so "full of the Spirit" or whatever.

I'm in a very bad situation right now, and it hurts that she keeps turning to Lawd Jebus to "save" us when his people aren't doing shit for us.

Nice to see this place still doing its thing... glad I was able to get back here. Hope I am able to contribute somehow.

Really,

L.B.

It's a tough situation. My wife is a Xtian, but not a fanatic. We agreed simply not top talk about religion.

There are Xtians around us all who don't care a bit about us and those that do. I think it mostly depends upon what kind of persons they were before they became Xtians. Xtianity does not usually improve a person's character, but it sure can damage it. It's hard to improve one's character if she thinks only she and people who believe as she does are right. Everyone else is wrong,      bill

Howdy, L.B.  Sorry you're having such a tough go of it. You're wife probably needs her old false sense of security.  We all need a crutch sometimes.

Welcome back! I started here after you left, but it's still home. smile.png

Sorry to hear things are rough. My hubby had "the bad-things-will-happen-to-you" talk from his dad, now that he knows we're not walking with the Lard.

Ugh. Hope to commiserate with you around the boards!

@1AcceptingAThiest1,

I have no idea who you are, and I hope you aren't looking for any pre-sympathy from me for when you tell people

who you are and start expecting them to give you a "warm" welcome.

You may or may not have de-converted at some point in the past, but now you're coming back here as a TrueBeliever

type... you'll get no warm wishies from me, bud. Magical Sky Men and their lackeys have fucked my life up something fierce,

and you and your "Truth" won't help or change anything here, personally for me or on this site.

If you're a god-head now, why are you still here? It had better not be to troll for converts to your mystical bullshit.

The mods won't tolerate that, and I will slice and dice your fake religion like so many vegetables if you push me.

Don't.

Welcome back L.B.  I'm so sorry for the hard time you are going through. Some days it doesn't feel like we can make it through these tough situations. I reach now out to good friends who I know will come through for me. The church is so idiotic. I also remember a time when going through a terrible financial difficultly that the pastor looked at me and said, ''god will provide, just have faith''. Oh yeah? Didn't happen as usual. He couldn't even reach in his own god damned rich pocket and offer $100.00?? Idiots. I got through it on my own - using my own head, planning a lot of lot of strategies and putting in a lot of hard efforts to make my situation work. Your wife sounds terrified and is leaning once again on the false pretension that prayer will work. I've also done this a million times. I don't think there is much you can do but try to get whatever situation it is you are facing under control to the best of your ability. Take matters into your own hands. We are here to support you, even if it's to rant away until you feel better..

Sincerely, Margee
