Why Does God Favor Christians?

Honest question. Why do Christians get better treatment than any other individual? What kind of god does that and why do people become attracted to this in Christianity?

I'm interested in your guy's take on this.

Either Yahweh, or his earthly representatives, or both, are fleecing and exploiting the believers.  Their "Ark of Salvation" is a slave ship.  The end of the story is not yet told.

Same reason that a certain retired Vice President of Nigeria wants to share half of his retirement fund of $30,000,000 US dollars with you if you will just take a few minutes and answer a couple of questions.  Even though he doesn't know you he picked you because your e-mail address sounds like it belongs to an honest person.

Oh and the Bill Gates internet lottery called.  You won the grand prize if you will simply confirm it.

Say a prayer and in return Jesus will give you paradise for all eternity.  Can't you see how important it is to Jesus that you accept him?

Get better treatment by whom? By God? They don't. Mostly because God doesn't exist.

Because he doesn't read his own bible.

Romans 2:11

God favors nobody.

"God" doesn't treat believers better. Mostly because "God" doesn't exist, not in the way that believers say that he does.

One thing that believers do very well is align their lives with a specific doctrine-driven framework that tends to result in them avoiding many of the common pitfalls and catastrophic worldly fuck-ups that happen to the rest of us heathens.

Or so they claim. Truth is, they divorce at the same rate as nonbelievers, have alcoholics and drug addicts among them, seek out sex with escorts and prostitutes, watch porn, slack at work, cheat on their taxes, and vote for crackerjack floating head politicians like the rest of us. The ones that claim that they are "in the world, but not of it" haven't really lived, imo. They're just following a script to the letter or really fucking deluded or both.

I wouldn't trip too much about God's favor and that sort of shit. Live your life to satisfy yourself. Make the best decisions that you can make for you and yours. Value education. Live, love and laugh. That's all I can tell you. ;)

Hey,

Erm I don't know how to break this too but Christians dont get any better treatment they just think they do.  Jesus who was aparantly God got murdered / Yahweh was continually ignored by his people / Jesus desciples were all painfully put to death one way or another and even now Christians in the middle east are being murdered.

On the whole I would say that Christians actually have the worst hand as they believe there is something that is protecting them but when you think of all the deaths Christians have had - God simply isnt there

In the Western Churches omg God is totally there lol.  Just appears that he dont like Chinese / Arabs or Black People.  Just White Americans.

Christians don't get better treatment from their mythical god. However, Christians, especially the clergy, promote that concept for very good reasons. It builds the concept of exclusivity and with that comes the idea that the god who created trillions of stars and galaxies actually takes an interest in you. That, of course, builds the Christian's religious ego which helps to cement his or her loyalty to the religion. They also promote the myth that god treats them special. When anything good happens, from getting a parking space to a loved one recovering from a serious illness, it is proclaimed to be a miracle or gift from god. On the other hand, when something bad happens, then god acts in mysterious ways but the Christian must have faith that he loves them.

Then there is the big kahuna. Jesus died for YOU because he loves YOU and because he did not want YOU to go to hell. That is designed to make each Christian feel extra, super special thus further cementing them to the religion and, of course, giving plenty of money and actively working to bring in new adherents.

God does not treat Christians better, but the Bible, the clergy, and religious adherents manufacture the myth that he does.

He treats them better cuz they lack the mental faculties it takes to realize how big of a dick he is.

Here's my take on the core of it: God loves you so he wants for you to be eternally happy, but cannot allow that because of the sin in you, and that sin needs to be atoned by acknowledging it (and while you are at it, also must believe the necessity of the sacrifice of Jesus, resurrection and trinity stuff). I sort of believe in that, excluding the parenthesised stuff.

A Christian supposedly acknowledges his sinfulness and therefore God can treat him favorably. Either here or in the afterlife, depending on the brand of Christianity.

Honest question. Why do Christians get better treatment than any other individual?

Honest answer.  Christians get "better treatment" in those societies in which Christianity is the dominant religion.  In those societies in which Christianity is not the dominant religion, or in which religion is not a dominant influence, Christians do not get "better treatment" but instead are treated as anyone else or are discriminated against.

A fictional god does this according to the mythology created by the associated humans.  Nearly all people are not attracted to "this", they are indoctrinated into it as children by trusted adults.  "This" is maintained in adulthood via peer pressure.

Depending on where you live, you may be witnessing a thing called "Christian privilege." Interestingly, I benefit from it because my Ismaili Muslim boss believes I am a "man of faith." (I was a Christian for most of my life, including the first 20 years I've known my boss.)

I'm not about to come out of the closet at work. So, in this case, God must be treating me well because someone thinks I'm a Christian! I'm still witnessing for Him! (Just kidding.)

On a national level In the U.S. it was installed into the psyche of the citizenry by the prosperity of the country especially after WWII but to an appreciable amount of Christians today they feel the U.S. and by proxy themselves are being punished by their God for the sins of society...........abortion, same sex marriage, proliferation of gays yelrotflmao.gif , marijuana legalization etc., etc.

On an individual level, Mister Two used the term Christian Privilege, yes there is the example he gave and others where by design and association Christians aggregate a perceived privilege unto themselves.

A big YES to everything Overcame Faith said. Believers do cartwheels of emotional "reasoning" to make sense out of tragedies, because there has to be a reason since "God is in control" (remember that song?). The affirmations of faith are repeated constantly, worship music played constantly. But step back and look at their lives versus those without faith and the same amount of sickness, divorce, accidents, and tragedies befall them as they do others. Some in leadership even use their position of power to manipulate others out of money and sex, all with the excuse that it will please Jesus. There's no god and no devil to blame it all on, or to give glory to, just ourselves and our lives and what we can do with them while we have time.
