Brother Jeff

This glorious article is my attempt to explain what it is like to make the journey from Christianity to Atheism. I would post the whole thing here, but a lot of linkage would be lost, so please give my glorious site a visit and let me know what you think.

Excellent, and as duderonomy said, very good singing! Do you still sing? I find it a great way to play and meet people. I sing at a couple of local piano bars in Portland, OR.

Awesome post, Brother Jeff. Glory!

You have such a beautiful writing style.  Incredibly easy to read, and typo free to boot!

I accept that you feel you were intentionally lied to but I don't feel my parents and others knew what they were telling me was a lie.  Maybe some of the pastors or other professionals knew it was a lie, and if so, their conduct is of course reprehensible, but if I thought most or all of the xian influences of my past knew it was a lie I would be consumed with anger all of the time.  From what I can tell, the mind virus was unknowingly passed down through the generations on both sides of my family for as far back as anyone can tell.

I read that Hebrews 4:12 had a particular impact on you when you entered xianity.  Maybe I can help in some small way to put that verse in its proper perspective by copying the Lolcat version:

12 For teh word ov ceilin cat iz livin an activ. Sharpr than any double-edgd sword, it penetratez even 2 dividin soul an spirit, joints an marrow; it judgez teh thoughts an attitudez ov teh hart.

It has been a long time since I sang publicly, but I still crank music up and belt it out just for the joy of it privately. One of my favorites to belt out since I was kid has been The Guess Who - These Eyes. We have a Seeburg jukebox that has been in the family since the 1960's and the 45-rpm record of this song is in there. My sister has the jukebox now at her house in Houston, TX but my family got it in 1974, if I remember right. Anyway, here's the YT version:

Of course, there is a lot of other music I enjoy too ranging from the 1950's to the early 1990's. Some newer stuff too, but I am usually stuck in the awesome 80's on YouTube.

Thanks, Sister! I enjoy writing and try to catch the typos before I hit the "Publish" button in WordPress. :)

I'm sure that my friend Mike and the Christian authorities such as my pastors didn't really intentionally lie to me, though it still feels that way. But I think most creationists are lying bastards who know they are lying for Jesus and they just don't care. I view them with noting but utter contempt. Religion is indeed just a terrible mind virus that gets passed down through generations. My friend Mike thought he was doing a good thing and I know he really thought that he was introducing me to a real God and a real, living Savior. He didn't know it was just a myth that would end up doing me great harm, and he still doesn't realize it. I have little contact with Mike now, but I do know that he is still a devout believer. He will probably never get free from the cult. But as damaging as the Christian cult was for me, it seems to work well for Mike.

I love the lolcat Bible! I had no idea that it even existed until you made me aware of it. Glory!
