I just joined this forum because of this thread.  My first-born son died last year of glioblastoma multiforme, the same brain cancer that Brittany had.  J was a healthy, quirky, funny kid (and an evil

Thankfully these people do not represent the thoughts of us all.

I for one think that we have a right to decide to live or die period. It is our life no one elses. We dictate that and no one else.

What a pack of assholes. They could care less that this girl was going to die in horrible pain and that she choose the path that was not only easier for her but for those that love her. Rather than make them watch her fall apart and die right before them she choose dignity.

To call someone stupid as a christian reeks of hypocricy.

To all you christians reading this forum please make your comment, call out a dead girl and see what happens. This shit angers me. Those of us here with the sense not to act like you most likely think this...

We want no part of what you have to offer in christianity, if you persist on trying to force your way into our lives we will find you and fight you. Do not attempt to impose your order over our chaos. You will be making a mistake that I promise you will regret later.

If you wish pain on others plan on it befalling you. If you wish damnation on others plan on your fake god smiting you for your insolence. All you had to do was approach life with the humility that was suppose to be taught to you in your churches and schools... where the fuck did that go then?

I wish my finger was 10 feet long so they could see it over the crowd or idiots blocking their view...

Vile, vile people. The nastiness of Christians no longer shocks me. Some of them are as cold, cruel  and callous as the monster they pretend to love and worship.

On suicide itself, the great Robert Ingersoll covered it well:

"Is it possible that a man, "slowly being devoured by a
cancer," whose days and nights are filled with torture, who is
useless to himself and a burden to others, is carrying out the will
of God? Does God enjoy his agony? Is God thrilled by the music of
his moans -- the melody of his shrieks?

This frightful doctrine makes God an infinite monster, and
every human being a slave; a victim. This doctrine is not only
infamous but it is idiotic. It makes God the only criminal in the
universe."

It's funny how Christians are supposed to have more love for other people than we ex-Cs do, but the opposite seems to be true, in most cases. I guess there really is no Holy Spirit and Christianity is just a crock of shit.

These warriors for Jesus get upset when people choose to escape from a planet filled with disease and suffering.

Leaving this world also takes away a target for the preaching of these lunatics.

The cowards are those that hide under the robe of a magical sky-man and pretend that by doing so, they'll be rewarded in the afterlife.

Braving the unknown and doing it with dignity is a far better fate than being a sheep that bleats vile religious garbage.

To me that says how they really feel, they DO NOT care about saving souls at all!

They are the cowards hiding behind a myth, calling it love, when in reality they are hateful bigots!

Didn't their mythical jesus person say for what judgement you mete out, it shall be measured to you again? This stupid, ignorant f*ck just condemed himself/herself to the fires of hell according to the very psychotic nut they worship. Stupid as*holes. I hate f*cking christianity. The worst part is, a year ago i was one of em'. I'd like to personally thank their christian god for giving me logic and reasoning so as not to believe in their god anymore. These posts make me so god damn angry.  Wendystop.gif

Edit: My original post was a bit harsh and uncharacteristic of me, for which I apologize. I was just peeved at seeing people wishing pain on a cancer patient. How calloused can people get?

I usually don't resort to name-calling, as it's nearly always childish and unwarranted. In this case, however, people making those kinds of comments have earned the recognition that they're heartless idiotic fuckface asswipe douchebag shithead moronic lowlife worthless dickhead cunts. Did I forget anything there?

Glad your always there to put me down and my posts down as well. I am sorry jesus didn't f*ck up your life like he did mine. mazel tov brother

As if this nonsense wasn't enough, the Vatican, of course, just had to chime in, condemning the act as absurd: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/vaticancityandholysee/11208893/Vatican-condemns-suicide-of-US-cancer-victim-Brittany-Maynard.html

Rest in peace. I was on a panel in my philosophy class about physician assisted suicide, while I can see the danger behind this practice, but this should be up to the individual to decide at least the physician can try to ease her pain and look for alternatives.  In the end, none of us can know what is going on in the minds of the people who decide this path, every circumstance is different.

I didn't say ANYTHING about you or any of your posts. I was responding to the Facebook garbage in the first post.

I read this question in a book once:Why is suicide wrong in society if it's assisted or done quickly like hanging, gun shot etc. but it's legal to commit suicide slowly by smoking or alcohol consumption. Quick suicide=illegal/slow suicide=legal my 2 shekels worth

I think I can see where you got the idea that you were being put down from. Given this statement right here: "I usually don't resort to name-calling, as it's nearly always childish and unwarranted." and the fact that Citsonga's post came directly after yours, I can see where the source of the confusion comes from.

One thing that I've learned since I started using online forums is that it is unwise to assume that the post after yours is directed at you or anything you've posted when your name hasn't been mentioned and when none of your previous posts have been quoted (unless of course you are the creator of the thread).

I have made this mistake in the past with someone else's post that was referring to the OP at the start of the thread, but appeared to be addressing something that I'd said. In the end, I discovered that the assumption was indeed incorrect and that cleared up any confusion that I had. I just thought I'd mention this to help you out a little bit.

Thanks, crazyguy. I hadn't even seen torturedbychrist's post until after I posted.

I probably shouldn't have ranted anyway, though, but I was peeved to see people callously wishing pain on a cancer patient.

There's nothing wrong with ranting. In this case, I don't see why anyone shouldn't rant. If you want to edit again and put your original comment back, you'll get no objection from me. cool.png

How can you love someone you are constantly in the act of judging?

he should be able to rant all he likes. I see some rants in this section that are far less justified and at least his was.

There is nothing sane or nice about people who wish pain on someone that is already dying from terminal illness. The fucking assholes wishing the pain are the ones that are terminally ill in reality. They cannot be fixed until they destroy the nasty person they are and start fresh with a new outlook on what it actually means to be human for its own sake.

It is the place to rant isn't it :)

And these are the people who claim that *non* christians have no moral compass...

Oh we indeed have no moral compass.

Of course they define "moral compass" as "100 % our idea of morals".

:Hmm:
