ax345
My brother posted this link on Facebook, calling for prayers for Hollywood: http://www.mastermediaintl.org/events/oscar-sunday/ One of his buddies ranted: I am praying that God will shut down Hellywood and all their ungodly spew if they will not bow the knee to the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. And that He will bring to naught the evil intentions of reprobate, apostate people in the entertainment industry, who seek to pervert and scuttle godly standards of thought, word and deed and turn this earth into the hell-hole that they themselves live in. Oh Lord, let it be! Here's my reply (which I think is very diplomatic): TV and movies are going to reflect the way the producers see life. Some producers are Christian, so their material will adhere to your standards (unless its the wrong denomination, perhaps). Many are not Christian, or not religious at all, so what they create will not promote religion. Some of it will be true garbage that many religious people and athiests would agree is worthless or silly. I'm a non-believer, and yet I don't think most violent or sexually titllating material in movies is needed. Its often just put there for its own sake, and can reflect pretty stupid ways of thinking, or just poor taste. I mean, it "is what it is". I'm not sure why people get into a frenzy over the media. It's mostly noise. I've lived almost entirely without TV both when I was very religious and now that I'm not. That said, I enjoyed a few of the movies that received Oscars. My kids and my girfriend's family and I all enjoyed Boyhood, for example. There was a lot there we could identify with. The way the filmed the movie over such a long period also made it unique. I'm curious if this will stir up any conversation.
Super Moderator buffettphan Posted February 24, 2015 Super Moderator Share Posted February 24, 2015 I like your reply and think it's spot on. It will be interesting to see what responses you get. Christians really do get their knickers in a twist over a lot of nothing.

But just have hope that you've done your best and trust that you can deal with it if something goes wrong. Good luck.
