Goodbye Jesus

If God hates sin and sin entered the world through Adam and Eve eating forbidden fruit and God knew they would eat the fruit, why then place the tree in Eden.......

It makes no sense, at all.

I know I am not the first, nor will I be the last to notice this, but it really seems like total entrapment to me......

God must, simply must have wanted them to fall into sin otherwise why put the tree near them, why make the fruit good to eat and look at, why allow the serpent to get close to them.........

Clearly ( I am treating the subject as being true for the purpose of this posting) God planned on them failing His test.....as Christians claim that Jesus was there from the foundation of the world.

Had they not eaten the fruit would they still be alive now on Earth........Christ would not have needed to leave Heaven to save man, as the first parents would not have fallen......or dragged creation down with them.

I submit that if Christianity be true, it was a set up right from the off

Yes!  And God knew that setting up Christianity with no supporting evidence so it looks like a crazy religion you have to take on faith would result in most of humanity going to hell.  If God is real then he must have engineered it that way.  That would only happen if you enjoy torturing people.

I always wondered, if it was a test, then how long did god intend to test them for? If they had not eaten of the fruit that day, how many more days would god have left the tree there? In my opinion, he wanted them to fail, he would have left the tree there for as long as it took for them to eat and be punished for it. Your right castiel, if it were true, then it was all rigged from the get go. -Cat

I wonder if the Serpent was in on the fit up, he knew where Adam and Eve where, he knew they were not allowed to eat the fruit and he knew what would happen if they did........

Actually I wonder if the serpent was Yahweh in disguise...................

The Christian would say of course it was a set up - so god could display his love in redemption.

Conveniently ignoring his maniacal psychopathy in throwing the majority of his creation into a big supernatural bonfire.  Unfortunate "truth" that , so best ignored...

If we assume, as per xianity, the serpent was actually Satan (in some way...ie. possession, shape shifting, etc.) then whatever sin is would have already been in the world prior to anything Adam and Eve did.  God purposely places sin on earth in the form of all the fallen angels.  Adam and Eve are far in a way outnumbered and out-gunned in this battle.  But we're told they were the ones that did everything wrong when they ate some fruit because they disobeyed an explicit order not to do so.  Things were already wrong in this paradise because this so-called Paradise was really a prison for these criminal angels.  How good could it have really been when Adam and Eve were simply two more inmates and YHWH was the warden?

But you have to remember that at the time that story was told snakes had been worshipped as symbols of wisdom and rejuvenation already for a long time. I've always wondered at this…

"Ancient Mesopotamians and Semites believed that snakes were immortal because they could infinitely shed their skin and appear forever youthful, appearing in a fresh guise every time. [1] Before the arrival of the Israelites, snake cults were well established in Canaan in the Bronze Age, for archaeologists have uncovered serpent cult objects in Bronze Age strata at several pre-Israelite cities in Canaan: two at Megiddo,[3] one at Gezer,[4] one in the sanctum sanctorum of the Area H temple at Hazor,[5] and two at Shechem.[6]

in the surrounding region, serpent cult objects figured in other cultures. A late Bronze Age Hittite shrine in northern Syria contained a bronze statue of a god holding a serpent in one hand and a staff in the other.[7] In sixth-century Babylon a pair of bronzer serpents flanked each of the four doorways of the temple of Esagila.[8] At the Babylonian New Year's festival, the priest was to commission from a woodworker, a metalworker and a goldsmith two images one of which "shall hold in its left hand a snake of cedar, raising its right [hand] to the god Nabu".[9] At the tell of Tepe Gawra, at least seventeen Early Bronze Age Assyrian bronze serpents were recovered.[10]

Ancient Egyptians worshiped snakes, especially the cobra. The cobra was not only associated with Ra, but also many other deities such as Wadjet, Renenutet, and Meretseger. Serpents could also be evil and harmful such as the case of Aapep. They were also referenced in the Book of the Dead, in which spell number 39 was made to help repel an evil snake in the underworld. "Get back! Crawl away! Get away from me, you snake! Go, be drowned in the Lake of the Abyss, at the place where your father commanded that the slaying of you should be carried out."[11] Wadjet was the patron goddess of Upper Egypt, and was represented as a cobra with spread hood, or a cobra-headed woman. She later became one of the protective emblems on the pharaoh's crown once Upper and Lower Egypt were united. She was said to 'spit fire' at the pharaoh's enemies, and the enemies of Ra. Sometimes referred to as one of the eyes of Ra, she was often associated with the lioness goddess Sekhmet, who also bore that role."

But yes, the story as told presumes a set-up by Yahweh, one where mankind could do nothing but fail. It doesn't make sense any way you read it.

My question is, if he knew it was going to happen, why'd he bother creating us? Why would he put in the effort? If he can do anything, he could've easily changed it and everyone would be happy. Sounds like a game of Sims to be honest.
