suzie Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 I used to frequent this site quite a lot, I suffer from scrupulosity (religious ocd) but have been going really well lately :-) Until all the recent terror attacks anyway... my news feed has been flooded with ISIS related stories and its making me really anxious. Especially the ones where Christian friends claim the whole ISIS thing relates to end time prophecies... can anyone please refute this? I'm stressing!
Thurisaz Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 They claim this every time, and you know it. Your mind is aware that it's all bullshit. It's your residual brainwashing which desperately fights for survival. As for specifically debunking the claims about the Paris killings, nope I can't do that. Not anymore than I can do it with everything else morontheists have claimed to be proof for this being the Last Days since their cult took off two fucking thousand years ago. You'll get over it. Until then, you have my (((Suzie))) I forgot: Take a gleeful crap on the current hysteria. Not just morontheists but also the media are selling everything as sensational and shocking as possible again, and they care fuck all about fact checking. My advice? Check out alternative sources too if you must, and don't expect any fact-checked statements until some two or three weeks down the line at least. 3
mymistake Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Well for starters I would recommend that you stop reading those news stories for a while. I mean if you take me as a typical person I read a few of them when the event first happened just to see what happened and then after the second day I didn't read any more because it was sad and there is nothing I could do about it. So I just focus on other things. Start there. End Times prophecies are hog wash. Christians can make them up and make them fit any current event. They have been doing it for hundreds of years and they get it wrong every single time. Did you know the Seventh-Day Adventist church was created when this crazy guy kept making End Times prophecies that failed? That was back during the time of the American Civil War. You know, when Abraham Lincoln was still alive. When I was growing up they had me scared to death that the Tribulation would start in 1988. When that failed they convinced me it would happen in the 1990's. Every time they get it wrong they simply pick a new date and start the same crap all over again. 2

I was first freaked out around all the 2012 stuff, and most recently around the end of September (some date on the Jewish calendar and a blood moon was supposed to be a sign i think) so it's definitely not the first time I've been worried about this. I think I'll just steer clear of news/facebook for the time being :-)

Haha i remember being in primary school and i saw on the news that someone had predicted the end of the world. I wasn't scared at all then (my family's version of Christianity was love based, being a good person etc, no end of the world stuff, barely any hell- 'you are a good person you will go to heaven' etc). I just thought it was awesome that I would get to be around for that haha. I think the thing that freaks me out is that apprentice ISIS are trying to bring on ww3 and lure all the fighting to wherever the koran says the final battle will take place. Is it even the same place as in the bible? Not sure why this scares me... I understand is not a prophecy being fulfilled, just crazies trying to steer things in that direction... 1
Mythra Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Read the bible. You don't need to worry about the end times until AFTER all the stars fall from the sky. 3
Overcame Faith Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 The so-called end-times as described in Matthew 24 have already occurred in the year 70 A.D. with the Roman destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple and the subsequent exile of many of the surviving Jews. Revelation also does not pertain to us or our future. Rather, Revelation pertains to Caesar Nero's persecution of Christians in 65 A.D. and the 666 beast is also Nero. Therefore, whatever happens by way of terrorism or anything else has nothing whatsoever to do with the Bible or end-times.
Storm Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Jesus predicted that the end times would happen before those in his physical presence, at the time he said it to them, died. That clearly didn't happen. Why would we have reason to believe any other prediction? If Jesus, the actual son of God, and God himself, couldn't predict something correctly, why would you believe anyone else? 2

Especially the ones where Christian friends claim the whole ISIS thing relates to end time prophecies... can anyone please refute this? I'm stressing! Hi suzie. Try so hard not to stress about this. I just went through this the other day where my mind got stuck and I was actually thinking about the possibility that the christians could be right about the last days. A good friend had to remind me that the last days would happen in jesus time on earth. I'm actually reading about it this afternoon in Matthew. Had to dig my old bible out again..... It is so easy to get triggered by all the violence right now. Try to look only at positive things right now on the internet or even take a break and do some fun things in life. I had to tear myself away from the news because I don't like anything that is happening right now across the world. It scares the living daylights out of me. I hate violence of any kind. It amazes me that I can still get so triggered even after I've been out for a while now. That's what all the religion's brainwashing can do to a person. Go do something really nice for yourself. (hug)
florduh Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 ... relates to end time prophecies... can anyone please refute this? There is nothing to refute. Religious crazies make unfounded claims all the time.
moanareina Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 How many "end-times" did you survive? I think if I count them it is about twenty or so...my dad and granddad already told us we would live in the end times. How many peaks did it have already? WW1, WW2, cold war, more war here and there... There is no end-times as much as there is no global revival...which has been promised by the church over and over...it's just around the corner...but never really comes...lalalaaa... But for real, try to distract yourself. Stop reading the news, it is not helping and not relevant for your very life either. Unless you want to travel to one of the places. See a good friend, read a nice book, watch a light hearted movie. Anything.
Geezer Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Nothing to worry about unless you hear a loud trumpet & see a guy riding a white horse up in the clouds. If that happens I'm really going to be pissed off @ Dr. Bart Ehrman & Dr. Robert M Price, and a long list of other scholars......cause they deceived me! 1
