Seven human beings - just people, like you and me.  Only these people were more imaginative. More persuasive.  And they found a little niche of impressionable people who took the ball and ran with it.  SEVEN.  And we have billions of people now, like a huge pot of boiling soup that is about to go over the rim and make a big mess.

These were just off the top of my head, so maybe you guys can assist me in growing the list of religions or movements that were started by the ideas of a single guru of creative thinking.  Most of whom were probably deranged or, at a minimum, deluded.

Christianity :  a double-team:   Saul / Paul of Tarsus and the unknown writer of the Gospel of Mark

Mormonism:  Joseph Smith

Scientology: L Ron Hubbard

Islam:  Muhammed

Seventh Day Adventist:  Ellen G. White

Jehovah’s Witness:  Charles Taze Russel

Zarathustra/Zoroaster: Zoroastrianism/Mazdaism. It is very marginal today, but before the advent of Islam, it dominated eastern Mesopotamia, all of Persia and much of Central Asia.

Guru Nanak: Sikhism.
