Goodbye Jesus

Life And Irony

This is not so much a rant as it is a funny turn of events.

A couple years ago I was sitting in my wife's church listening to the Pastor drone on about the evils of the world and the goodness of their heaven and god. During the sermon she said, "We must be more concerned with our children's education about the afterlife than their education in this life."

Yeah, right, keep 'em ignorant cause religion depends on it.

Now my grandson started 4th grade this year and in his school district they have weekday religious education. The following conversation occurred today after school.

GS: "They had religious education today but I didn't go."

Me: "Why not?"

GS: "It's boring. I went last year but all you do is sit there and watch videos and some woman talks a lot."

Me: "So what did you do instead?"

GS: "Me and the other kids just helped our homeroom teacher do stuff. But we got to do something special that the other kids in the religious class didn't."

Me: "What's that?"

GS: "We got to do a whole page of math problems! I love math!"
