Lilith666
Well-said, Sybaris. When I wasn't in church on a Jesus-high, I used to feel terrible because he was supposed to be my friend, but first of all I got no answer other than bible verses I picked out, we had no common interests, couldn't go anywhere or joke around and have a normal conversation, and he was always breathing down my neck about what I could and couldn't do. Real relationships need some degree of familiarity and comfortable-ness, not one person constantly trying to please the other. And it seemed that nearly every church sermon was about asking people if they were trying hard enough to have a relationship with him. I did want to, but also didn't, really, because he was boring and creepy. I have a closer friendship with characters in my favorite books than I do with him.
