LifeCycle
It's been a rough few months. I experienced a tremendous loss I've never experienced before and really just now getting to the point I can talk about it without tearing up. She was amazing and she filled our lives with so much more than we ever thought possible. Animals are amazing but dogs are especially amazing. No matter your mood, they can always bring a smile to your face. They truly are, man's best friend. I could never thank her enough for teaching me lessons about life and giving me an even a better understanding of myself. Daisy has crossed the rainbow bridge but she lives on in our hearts, daily. I used to believe in something else after this life but now I'm not so sure. It doesn't stop me from hoping, however. One day Daisy and I may cross paths again. 1

It's a horrible experience and I'm so sorry for your loss. Hang in there. Somehow, no matter how impossible it may seem now, it does get better. You will always miss them, but one day you'll be able to think upon them and smile and remember all the good times without the tremendous grief. I'm not entirely there yet... Moderator Margee Posted December 18, 2017 Moderator Share Posted December 18, 2017 I am so, so sorry for the loss of your beautiful dog, Daisy. There's just something about our animals that make life a better place. I am an animal lover so I take my animals death very hard. My heart is grieving for you as you heal. Keep us posted on how you are doing. Big, big ((hug)) P.S. The song, ''Somewhere Over The Rainbow '' is the song I had played at my sisters funeral. So you really got me today. Your video was awesome.
Moderator LogicalFallacy Posted December 18, 2017 Moderator Share Posted December 18, 2017 @LifeCycle Sorry to hear of the loss of your fur family member. Our pets fill our lives in ways we don't truly appreciate until they are gone. One of the ironic things about life - our pets give us so much joy, but we know at the start of their lives that most likely we will grieve for them a decade or two later. I find it a comforting thought that they return to the universe that gave them life. They are never truly lost at a deep fundamental level, and live on in our memories. RIP Daisy

Your video was awesome. Thank you Margee. The video was definitely very hard to make but at the same time it was good for me. It was the least I could do for my Daisy. I also got a tattoo over my heart.... Her passing left an immense hole in our life but she contributed so much more and we would do it all over again knowing the outcome.

When the last of my 3 cats died 2 summers ago, I said, ''that's enough for me''. No more loving and losing these guys. Too hard on my heart. Then last winter, I read an article about how people who own animals aren't as depressed because they help so much. They need us and it gives us responsibility. And I was depressed. I couldn't stand it one minute longer and last February, I went out and adopted a five-year-old rescue cat. He has now become the love of my life. There isn't one second that he walks by me that it makes me smile. He needed me and I needed him. I know it's not the right time to probably say this but maybe at the exact right time, you'll give your heart over to another. Animals need us and we need animals. Your Daisy was one lucky dog. Looks like you gave her the best. Don't ever forget that hun. Big (hug) P.S. You gave me an idea for a little tattoo that I was thinking of getting. Been racking my brains out. A Rainbow. Thanks.

For me, I had no idea the level of sorrow I'd feel upon her loss. Despite that, I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat. The joy she gave is beyond measure and I feel lucky to have been a part of her life.

Yes, I know that day will come. We've already discussed it... We're dog people and that companionship just can't be replaced by anything else. I know for a fact there will be a lot of tears the day we adopt our new one... As a reminder of our Daisy and knowing we're embarking (pun intended) on a new journey with our new little one. Life can be so difficult but it can also be so beautiful and rewarding and worth it. We just gotta keep doing the things that make it beautiful.
Super Moderator florduh Posted December 19, 2017 Super Moderator Share Posted December 19, 2017 So sorry to hear that. Losing a great pet is the worst. Unfortunately, most of us can empathize with your pain. Actual paw print I converted to art and then to tattoo. All the best to you.

older
Sorry. It's so hard to lose a good friend like that. One of the things about pets is that they accept you for who you are. They never criticize, insult, or demean you. They don't try to make you over into something else. No matter how rotten your day was, your dog will always be glad to see you when you get home, and your cat will curl up in your lap and keep you company without asking for anything more than a few head scratches and a can of tuna.
