Guest Christ Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 If not, you missed some good stuff. There is a minister lady on the show that gave the impression she is very religious, devout, and a good person who does no wrong. She kept quoting the bible and speaking in her "holier than thou" tone, talking down to a gay guy about how he's going to hell because god says gayness is a sin... Meanwhile, we learn later on the show that she filed for bankruptcy while she had over one hundred thousand dollars to her name. I guess god wanted her to file for bankruptcy... Religious people are such hypocrites.
Guest Christ Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 Some info on the show and some video clips. http://www.fox.com/unanimous/
Kryten Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 Yes, I saw it and when they revealed the secret about the bankruptcy scam, my first thought was that it must be the fundy. I suspect she will be the first one spit out by the group. If I were there I would convince the group that I'd give them each $165K if they voted for me-- as long as we all shared the tax bill.
pandora Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 Hey, I saw that too. It was before Black and White. I thought I'd hate it... but it's actually pretty funny and very interesting on very many levels. That show is a sociologist's dream study. (I'm not a socialologist, but I do think sociologists would be interested. I could be wrong about what sociology is about....) Yes, I saw it and when they revealed the secret about the bankruptcy scam, my first thought was that it must be the fundy. I suspect she will be the first one spit out by the group. If I were there I would convince the group that I'd give them each $165K if they voted for me-- as long as we all shared the tax bill. That was my intial thought too... especially since there's a lawyer in the group (I think). But perhaps the stressful physical social conditions they are living in are preventing that... like a groupthink type of thing. It's only one episode in... it could be over with within a couple episodes, depending how long it took someone to think of that solution. Maybe they're all just dumb. Who knows....
BlueGiant Posted March 24, 2006 Posted March 24, 2006 Remember that they have to trust you enough to trust you not to walk off with the money. And trust is a rather hard thing to earn. At least they know they cannot trust the fundie.
Guest Christ Posted March 24, 2006 Posted March 24, 2006 Remember that they have to trust you enough to trust you not to walk off with the money. And trust is a rather hard thing to earn. At least they know they cannot trust the fundie. I guess one of the people is a lawyer though. He could write up a simple contract and have everyone sign it. Of course this is assuming they have pen and paper. However, it could be simply a verbal contract in which they all know they are being recorded, so the proof is there. I also don't think there were any rules as to how they can plot to use or divide the money. They all seemed pretty shocked when they learned the premise of the show and how much they were playing for, which led me to believe no rules had been discussed other than what we saw on the show. *shrug* My whole objective on the show would have to been to divide the money evenly and walk off the show the day they walked in. 165k, that's a lot of cash.
