Lauren Duca on Billy Graham: Speaking the Truth to Evil

On-line commentator Lauren Duca fired a warning shot tremendous shot across the bow of christianity's predilection with brainwashing and subverting the truth by calling Billy Graham "evil". Those who remain under the sway of abject fear taught by christians and (fear that is specifically backed up in their "holy book": see all references to the eternal torture that their jesus will enjoy inflicting on anyone not playing by their rules) responded in the predictable manner by trying to shoot the messenger.

Those of us who grew up in or around the toxic thinking, behaviors, denial, threats of christianity, and and who have witnessed or experienced the abuses ranging from emotional, physical or sexual have something important to say: people who condone these evils (I use the term specifically), have chosen to condone and even finance the continued abuses. Elsewhere on this site and in many other places are references to the work done by Drs. Winell and Tarico --who have conducted extensive and on-going research and have named a mental health disorder that comes specifically from experiencing and/or witnessing the abuses that originate and are propagated by those like Billy Graham, Dead (jerry) Falwell, and countless others.  The condition is Religious Trauma Syndrome and it is characterized by most of the diagnostic criteria and manifestations as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.  (Read: PTSD that comes from contact with toxic religion).

In short, Graham and others like him justify and spread the behaviors that cause humans to develop grave fear, low self-esteem, over-responsibility for others and high tolerance for inappropriate behavior. It is evil. It must be called-out as often as possible and by as many people as can, as they get free from the vice-like grip of one of the most toxic and damaging social organizations that mankind has come up with.

Tell friend.

An enigma of sorts, he supported civil rights while being a racist himself to some extent.

I agree with you, though -- anyone who preaches Christianity, and especially fundamentalist Christianity, is a menace to society.

And the worst thing he ever did was raise his son to become one of the worst of the types of Christians we see in power today.
