Now, a University of Michigan biophysicist and her group have been able to image the moment a photon sparks the first energy conversion steps of photosynthesis. Although green plants use the photosynthesis process very well, man cannot do the same thing very efficiently, changing water, carbon dioxide, and light into carbohydrate molecules while giving off oxygen as a byproduct. If we could learn how to do it better, faster, on larger scales, or at a lower cost, we could get rid of excess carbon dioxide on Earth and have better control of global warming for one thing. Better understanding of the photosynthesis process which bacteria and plants use might enable us to bio-engineer more efficient CO2 sequestering bacteria or plants to produce alcohol and other fuels at lower costs. Fweethawt
Ha! List of things to do to save the planet: 1. Create more oxygen. 2. Lower carbon dioxide. 3. Make alcohol. 1

You got it right but in the reverse order of importance.
