Moderator LogicalFallacy Posted April 25, 2018 Moderator Share Posted April 25, 2018 It's a brief talk from 2012 outlining the core reasons for warming. Interestingly he claims that he was censored for speaking out about the effects of warming. I was intrigued by his fee and dividend idea for phasing out fossil fuels. It's similar in concept to the ETS but pays it back to the public not Governments or the UN. The fee and dividend idea fleshed out: https://citizensclimatelobby.org/basics-carbon-fee-dividend/
pantheory
He surely seems sincere in his talk. Although there is little debate concerning the negatives of global warming, there is debate as to what extent mankind is causing it. James Hansen, the speaker, is correct when he states that those denying global warming point to the sun as the determining agent concerning climate change. Some of these scientists with different opinions argue that there are many factors to global temperatures whereby the activity of the sun is generally the greatest concerning global temperature variations. Some of these climatologists also assert that man's contribution to global warming is very small compared to variations of the sun on the climate. Although most everyone is familiar with the idea that increased green-house gases contributes to global warming, few have ever heard that some fossil fuel burning particulates contribute to global cooling. http://www.scmp.com/news/china/policies-politics/article/1929306/chinas-smog-clouds-have-silver-lining-they-may-help https://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/Features/Aerosols/page3.php Probably greater than 95% of meteorologists believe global warming is real, but the remaining climate scientists believe that either the Earth is in a climate equilibrium period between ice ages that may continue to last for hundreds or even thousands years with only minor variations of the Earth's mean temperature, or that the Earth is now on the cusp of global cooling that could last for decades, hundreds, or even thousands of years upon the inception of a new ice age cycle. https://www.livescience.com/61716-sun-cooling-global-warming.html https://www.express.co.uk/news/science/723481/Earth-ICE-AGE-big-freeze-solar-activity
