Goodbye Jesus

The Stupidity of Attributing Luck to Godliness

I attend church most Sundays because I love my wife and count any hour spent with her worth it - even sitting through a sermon.....

Yesterday, the worship leader was trying to illustrate God's goodness by telling us that his sister's neighborhood was on fire, they prayed, and her whole

block was destroyed except her house and the house on her left and the one to her right...  And everyone clapped to God.

Well over 700 homes have been destroyed so far.  And I'm 99.9% sure that at least 1 of those people was also a Christian who also prayed hard for their house... And returned to a pile of ashes.

It makes me soooo mad.  As though he and his sister are so much more righteous that God only bends the laws of the universe for them.

I hate the egocentrism that cant even realize how insensitive and idiotic that appears to anyone else who lost their home.

I just don't think God gets a point for the few homes that survived.  If anything, these catastrophes should cause the Christians to have to defend God's alleged goodness in the face of gratuitous suffering, not try to claim a victory out of if.

   - I wonder home many of them will question their faith now.

    - Major pet peeve here.

   - When I am asked why I am so concerned with rebuking people's god/Jesus references if I do not believe in god I make reference to the self-righteous, egocentric PITAs in my life.

House survives a conflagration: Thank you, Jesus!

House burns to the ground: Jesus is taking us in a new direction! Praise the Lord! :)

Oh yeah, very egocentric perspective! God cares about me and mine, even to the detriment and destruction of my neighbors. A bit perverse, dontcha think?

A sentiment straight out of the bible. Spot light appears on how bible's perverseness radiates out into it's believer community....

Oh yeah, I definitely realize that!  Sad but true....

Luck doesn't come from god, its more a combination of your star sign, lucky underwear, avoiding black cats, the quality of your aura and having a lucky charm really helps.

If you want to win at the casino just carry a crystal in your left hand and a rabbits foot in your right. So much luck its like they are just handing you the cash. 🤑

pet peeves.

If you’re a believer and good things happen- PTL! If bad things happen- it’s a test of faith, PTL.

If you’re not a believer and good things happen- Christians were still praying for you, you’d better PTL. If bad things happen- it’s God smiting you for not praising him.

God may have saved their house on earth but wait until they get to heaven and see that their neighbors have slightly nicer mansions.  Will it have been worth it then?  An eternity with inferior landscaping or a slightly off paint color?

It could be a lot worse than inferior landscaping or paint.  Some people might end up with outhouses....... no shit.

The Pew Warmer Mansion: One of the saddest groups of people in heaven will be those who never did anything beyond going to church every Sunday. They had the knowledge of the truth, but they never did anything with it.

(Not to mention it looks like someone got locked inside with the toilet paper outside!)

Or maybe the Struggling Believer Mansion: This home is for people who made it into heaven by the skin of their teeth. It's far better to live as a pauper in heaven, than to face the alternative.

Then there's the home made for us ex-c'ers.   The Quitter Mansion: This is a home that will never be lived in because the person slated for this lot was a believer in name only. Angels began to build him a mansion, but they stopped work when it was clear the client had no intention of fulfilling his commitment.

I gave a like to your post for the absurdity but I have to have it known that I have a longstanding beef with those fuckers over at rapture ready and it's good you're pointing out how retarded they are (and they are retarded...they have serious brain damage).
