The Bible also tells us that one can know which prophets are false is that they'll speak and act contrary to God's commandments.  That's why even if the Bible is true and everything happened as written Jesus is a false prophet, as he continually broke the Sabbath and encouraged others to do so as well.  It's not the most odious commandment a prophet could break, but it's always the details that'll get ya.

Actually, he in fact according to the book did not break the Judaic Law, he kept it in its entirety, literally to the letter. That was the whole point of the Jesus character in the first place. In order for there to be a perfect sacrifice for man so that the Law would be fulfilled saving the people of Isreal from their sins, that sacrifice had to be perfect in every way, so the story goes. Jesus became both the High Preist in the temple ritual and the sacrifice on the alter itself. Do not make the mistake of reading commentaries and books that try to give an interpretation of what the Bible says. Simply read it for yourself, then you will see from your own perspective. Consider that Jesus had to keep the Law as presented in the Old Testament. If you learn what the Judaic Law requires only then can you tell if the Jesus character met the requirements of the Law. Many so-called believers don't bother to read the Old Testament because it's, well, the old ways, boring, etc.  My take was that if that book was real, then clearly I must humble myself and read every word as if my life depended on it. I read every single word, and I mean every word, at least 3 times. That I know for a fact. Reading the genealogies was a real test to my humanity! Humbling indeed.

I tried reading the Bible, but did it kind of backwards.  I got through the New Testament with only moderate confusion, but gave up at the end of the Old Testament, as, as I've said before, it reeked of torture porn.
