MLK Jr Flub - Weather guy gets fired.

Recommended Posts

This isn't the first time MLK's name has been accidentally pronounced incorrectly in the same way. It can be a tongue twister. This culture of firing people for honest mistakes has become annoying af.

On the flip side, my Cajun workmate calls himself a coon-ass all the time. :) I bet Cajuns NEVER get interviewed on tv. Might have to fire someone afterward. :) Ridiculous.

PLEASE EXCUSE THE ANNOYING COMMERCIAL BREAKS IN THE CONVERSATION:

As with everything these days, the cost of keeping the Ex-C forum up and running has been rising. Inflation? In part, but the primary reason is this: As participation in the forums grows, costs increase. The Ex-C forums will remain free of charge to everyone, but if you believe this little corner of the Internet provides value to you or others, and you feel inclined to help keep us online, please consider making a one-time donation or becoming a regular contributor. Contribution options appear under the "Upgrade" link above, and can be accessed by clicking here.

Oh, and as an incentive (no, you won't be given any bogus promises of eternal bliss), if you do become a regular contributor by signing up for any monthly or yearly patron package, this annoying ADVO will disappear.

And now, back to the regularly scheduled conversation...

Coon-ass is an honorable title in the Bayou's.

Sort of like Conch in the Keys.

I remember when the Klan always referred to him as Martin Lucifer Coon. Not surprised some people may be a little touchy.

I've never heard of that word being used as a racial slur. Regardless, though, how does one accidentally insert an extra word into the middle of the name? Or was it that he mispronounced King and then repeated it correctly?

I know one thing, there's a lot of left wing blacks screaming "Coon" at conservative blacks when they speak in public. Not sure when that started or for what reason, but it's become a thing. Candace Owens gets called a Coon all the time by her rival political peers.

It means Uncle Tom, White women chaser, black self hatred.....

He got slammed with using it as N. The question is whether or not he meant to do that. If he did, that was a pretty stupid thing to do on the air. Maybe a freudian type slip? Who knows?

My wife felt maybe he tends to use it a lot at home and it just slipped out! :)

Yeah, that's probably it. Why else would someone blurt out MLC instead of MLK? Must have already been packed into his subconscious one way or another. Because that's one hell of a slip up to come out of left field.
