Biblical Pronunciation

Recommended Posts

I was watching the latest video from Matt Dillihunty discussing Jephthah, and thought, reading that name what pronunciation would I come up with?

That got me thinking, they Anglicised a whole bunch of the NT characters, but not all and very few of the OT ones. Why?

David, John, James and Mary stand beside Jephthah, Ezeikel, Jeremiah and Malachi. If it was to make it more palatable to western audiences why not go the whole way? If you want accuracy why not keep the 12 disciples real names?
