Last week I had a discussion with a young woman (early 20s) and we talked about this very subject, that in the West, it seems that the absolute only choice if you leave Christianity is atheism and so what is a spiritual person to do? It does seem a tad cut and dry. I have personally found much spiritual liberation and peace through Hinduism. There is so much to learn and you can even be an atheist and a practicing Hindu.
