("Another day, another dollar") People seem to say that when they feel stuck in the same boring job year after year.

What..? You really work for a dollar a day?

Back from over a century ago when sailors were paid a dollar a day and one day at sea was much like another.

I didn't know anything about the term, just that I'm sick of hearing it repeated from people who have more than enough.

Hey, don't be too hard on yourself.   A lot of us are looking for some way to occupy our time during this epidemic, and doing some things we don't normally do, or say.

  • 2 weeks later...

My grandad was a builder back in the 40's. A new build house was £1200.

My dad found his first paycheck back in the early 60's and he was paid a dollar an hour. My folks first home was $40k, an amount that blew my grandparents mind.

My first job paid $21k and my first home was $550k. The jump for each generation is huge.
