alreadyGone
How has gender shaped Christian belief? Historically? In the contemporary church? From my perspective growing up in the Protestant church in the U.S., the social aspect of church life and Christian thinking has always fascinated me. No question in my mind that this social aspect is shaped primarily by women within the congregation. It's what I have seen. Christian church leaders have long commented on the changing role of women and men in the church with modern social conventions and expectations. Where will it lead? Where will it lead? I've been out of the scene so long, I don't know what church leaders are saying. What are they saying? When this subject comes up, I laugh about a comment my mother made decades ago about men being the head of the church. My dad was an elder. She said, and it was true in her case, that men may be the heads, but women are sometimes the necks that turn the men's heads in the direction they need to go.
