Wrong, Weezer.

Absolutely, totally and completely wrong.

The only branch of the sciences that employs proofs is mathematics.  Not cosmology, astronomy, astrophysics, nor any other branch of the empirical sciences.  Therefore, when Christians claim that science has proved that the universe had an absolute beginning, they are mistaken and wrong.

These links will explain things far better than I can, Weezer.

So, if a Christian claims that science has proven something, unless they are talking about mathematics, they are as wrong as it's possible to be.

Thank you.

Walter.

My reply was a knee jerk reaction, and half joke.  I see what you mean, but sometimes I come on the forum and all the obsessive "hair splitting" arguments get to me.  But that's my problem.  Just ignore me.

Not a problem, Weezer.

My obsessive attention to every last detail may well be the result of too many years 'having to get it exactly right to avoid going to hell' when I was a Christian.

But, there is a positive side to that behavioural trope.

It enables me to do two specialised things in this forum and do them very well.

The first is to politely but relentlessly press Christians for specific answers while not getting upset or annoyed at their dodging, delaying or obfuscating tactics.

The second is to spend time patiently going through pages and pages of a thread, looking in fine detail for where the Christians are contradicting themselves, committing logical fallacies or simply getting their facts wrong.

So, perhaps my years in Christianity haven't been entirely wasted.

Thank you.

Walter.

.

I can certainly identify with that!   And after you get past the fear of Hell, all the research that goes into it is good exercise for the brain.

And organizing your thoughts for posting here.  And checking spelling if you don't have predictive text.

Hi Aibao !!!

I want You to know that You are not the only one with Your doubts.

If You wouldn't come to this forum I still would believe that I am the only one person from Poland, who goes through the process of deconversion from Christianity.

Other people around me seem to not care that much about what they believe or not believe.

I AM shy and introverted by nature and FAITH was something that was helping me for years to have a Hope for the future in extraverted and loud world.

In the case of Christianity I accepted that I can't know for 100 % that It's TRUE or not.

Sometimes I am triggered by some people' s testimonies and I feel the fear that I might be wrong.

And sometimes I envy that other people believe without doubts and are in peace.

Also, I am jelaous of atheists, who know for 100% that there is no God.

I call myself sceptic and I live day by day trying to improve my life that for now is broken in many ways, because of past mistakes.

When I was a member of Catholic Church for 17 years and than 7 years in Evangelical church I discovered that although there is lots of beauty and Hope in faith I CAN'T live in a conservative environment and make everyone around me convince to live this life, because every human being is different and go through different circumstances in life.

But I have to admit that some testimonies and mystical experiences are real triggers and It's difficult to get them out of mind.

Aibao, wish You all the BEST in Your journey 🙂

I'm also shy and introverted, and that's why I was so attracted to evangelical Christianity (probably because I needed friends, so honest and devoted - I found them in a Pentecostal church, but as it turned out later, this friendship failed a lot ... ostracism. Or maybe I got it all wrong ... I don't know, I'm lost ...
I am glad that you are here, we are 2 Polish women here!   :);)

I think it will make much more sense when you read the content. Why don't you do a book review if you like and I'll participate. My friend @midniterider has read the book as well. Maybe he'd like to participate in a book discussion too.

I hope you're feeling very welcome in our little online community!

I just finished reading this book so yes - I can participate in the review if it is still relevant :)

In general, I am sorry to wait for my answers (I have to reconcile a lot of matters with work, which only makes it difficult for me to leave the problem of religion behind me), while everyone here gives me immediate answers - thank you very much for that, your answers and knowledge and experience reassured me. Unfortunately, some problems are still unresolved, I still have a lot of questions, however glad to find here great support among all of you🥰
