Fallacies in arguing for god...

Here's an interesting episode that breaks down popular fallacies that many theists who are knowledgeable about the arguments prefer to steer clear of:

I think it's more than clear that if god exists, god has left no way whatsoever that the existence of god can be conceivably proven.

And that defaults to something that either can not, or will not make itself undeniably known through any means of conclusive evidence or anything similar. All that exists for positive arguments for the existence of god are logical fallacies that many educated theists want to stand back from.

Very telling indeed!

We've been here before Josh... many times.

Christian apologists trying to make the argument for intelligent design are totally unable to give one item of evidence that specifically identifies their god and no other.

Which is why apologists from other faiths can make exactly the same argument, claiming that their particular god is the intelligent designer and creator.

We do not see the name of Jesus written in galaxies, across the heavens.  We do not see the electron clouds around an atom's nucleus forming the shape of a cross.  We do not see any of the names of god encoded into our DNA.  We do not see anything, anywhere in reality that indicates that the Christian god of the bible is the true god.

As you say, god has not made himself undeniably known through any means of conclusive evidence, whatsoever.

All the religionists have is... faith.

Thank you.

Walter.

The theists in the videos who were interviewed more or less would have only faith to go by. They admit to not having any credible evidence.

That's also very telling about the evidence based apologetics tactics. They run counter to the biblical message of faith and faith alone. I've been saying that to apologists for years. I don't recall any off hand who agreed and backed off from trying to press on contradicting the biblical message of faith alone in favor of false evidences . They are usually happy to press on anyways making further logical fallacies and doubling down than to just lay back and agree that they have only faith, period.

They don't really trust the bible, then. They don't appear to have 'faith' in the message of 'faith alone.'

And from a psychological standpoint, these arguments are probably more to do with their own personal lack of faith in their own belief system than it has to do with the lack of faith in others. One finger pointed at atheists with three fingers pointed back at themselves....
