Goodbye Jesus

Why so many different gods?

Especially in America, many believe in a 6,000 year old Earth.

This means that everyone came from two people and later their descendants.

The old testament tells us these people knew God directly, saw his miracles, maybe even saw God in some form of other.

And yet they gave up their Jewish faith and their Jewish God.

They started new religions with their own different gods and this is just in a very short length of time.

How do creationists explain this?

====================================================================

In 500 BC, there was an estimated 100 MILLION people alive.

With a whole planet full of different groups of people, why did God pick solely on the Jews as his chosen people. Not many over 750,000 some estimate.

Why did God ignore over 99% of the people alive then?

It seems to be God's fault that there were so many other gods.

When you look at history it seems that early on there were many, many gods, and over time they were "thinned out"   Kinda backwards to the biblical account.

The country that you are in, Spain, as you know, is mostly Catholic, and the U.S. mostly protestant. Protestants include evangelicals, and unfortunately new-Earth creationists. I would guess that of the new-Earth creationists, most are very poorly educated -- so they know little or nothing of geology, archeology, paleontology, anthropology, etc.

Very few creationists, however, believe the Earth is only 6,000 years old. Such uneducated, religious folk are centuries out of touch with reality. An equally stupid belief are the flat-Earthers. Even some well-educated folk can have stupid beliefs in light of the evidence to the contrary, such as man never having set foot on the Moon.

yes, I was surprised to find out that so many in the U.S. believe in young Earth creationism. I mostly mingle with college folk here in the US and have never met or talked to someone who believes this BS. From what I read, the polls were based upon a 10,000 year old Earth, but still any educated person should know better than this IMHO. Nearly all Europe did better in the polling than the US.

Most of these beliefs are found in what is called the Bible belt of America which mostly consists of the southern states in America. Minority races in the US are more religious, and the northern US states are less religious.
