older
Well there are a number of surveys. Pew has one but it's complicated and not easy to summarize. And here's another that goes against the RNS article: https://phys.org/news/2021-08-covid-effect-religious-beliefs.html Published in the Journal of Religion and Health, a recent study surveyed Christian and irreligious people online at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. It suggests that those with strongly held convictions in their Christian faith, or who held no-religious belief, strengthened belief in their positions following the pandemic's onset. freshstart
Here is the original research article from the Journal of Religion and Health. https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10943-021-01296-5 I can't help but think that any source with the word "religion" is not going to be biased (from conducting their research to analyzing results) in favor of religion. But that is just my bias against these sources.
