Rae Posted November 24 Posted November 24 I am still on my path to deconstruction. I have books on history, psychology, and philosophy but none on different forms of science. I grew up around creationist theory despite being in public school. I am not a very scientific person, but I want to learn about books that can easily refute scientific claims on creationism. Preferably ones that are not too difficult to understand. Like I said, I am not very good at science but I would love to learn more. 1
Moderator TABA Posted November 24 Moderator Posted November 24 Hello Rae! Welcome to this community and welcome to the post-christian life! This community has helped so many people over the years - myself included - to gain confidence and happiness outside of christianity. You will get nothing but support and friendship here. I do encourage you to stay involved, whether it’s by reading topics that interest you, sharing your story with us, or asking questions. In my experience, having a supportive group of fellow apostates can make a huge difference in a complete and successful deconversion. Just realize that it IS a process, it does take time, and there may be setbacks along the way, but it can lead to a happy and fulfilled life without the tortuous theology and dogma of christianity. OK, I will answer your question, finally! A book I would recommend above all others is “A Short History of Nearly Everything” by Bill Bryson. Bill is a great writer and teacher. He is easy and entertaining to read, and he is a very knowledgeable non-scientist writing for the lay person who wants to get caught up with a broad range of human knowledge. I can’t recommend this book highly enough. Again, welcome to the group. Joining here was one of the best things I ever did, and I hope it will be for you too. Let us know how we can be of help: it’s why we’re here! 1

You were asking about creation----not God. The interesting thing about creation is that no one seems to know where all the energy and matter came from that make up our existance.
