Here's how it works: God has not yet given you a spirit of repentance, even though you prayed a sinner's prayer; you weren't really saved. You then heard the Gospel preached hundreds if not thousands of times. Every time an unbeliever hears the Gospel and does not repent again, their heart is hardened even more. The problem is that you thought you were saved, so you didn't press in to a full assurance. You just kept telling yourself that the prayer the first time did it. Now that your hearts are so hard, Satan has the freedom to just tell you whatever he wants and you take it all in as truth because you have not the discerning spirit to tell truth from error. Jesus Christ was born of a virgin, suffered and died for sinful men, rose again the third day and ascended into heaven. He is the Son of the Living God, the second person of the Trinity. I know Him because He has revealed Himself to me. He has walked and talked with me and told me about my life. I know the fullness of God's salvation through Christ because He is real. The Bible is true... every word. It was written by holy men of old who were moved by the Holy Ghost. I know you will say that verse is referring to the Old Testament, but the authors of the New Testament were moved in the same way as the writers of the OT. None of them actually KNEW at the time that they were being used of God to write and compile His perfect revelation to man. It's a story of unfolding, ever-deepening revelation that will only get fuller as the time of the end draws near. The Crusades and other so-called Christian wars and so on were not undertaken by Christians at all. The real Christians throughout history have been persecuted, hiding in plain sight. We have an heritage from the Lord that runs from Enoch to David to John the Baptist to Paul to the great saints of the modern era. We do not have to have a pope or bishops like the Catholics. We have the true word of God, inerrant and perfect in its very words. The so-called "King James" Bible is the perfect English version of the Bible and can be used to teach all nations. The other nations of the world will come into our "nation", that is, spiritual Israel, the true church of born again Christians. In that nation, they will be like the 10 people who take hold of the garment of a Jew and say let us go with you because we know God is with you. All those who hear the true Word of God will take hold of our garment and follow us to the truth. Repent so that your sins may be blotted out, and times of refreshing may come from the Lord. Whosever calls upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved. Beg God to send His Spirit of supplication (that's begging) and repentance into your hard hearts before Satan has you forever. You will go to hell and then you and Satan and all his demons will go to the eternal lake of fire. Trust Jesus now. He is the only one that can save you. I'm not. Jesus said to use righteous judgement. For example, if a person had a heart attack at the wheel of a car and their car jumped the curb at me, would I judge them as having bad character or would I use righteous judgement and say whatever the reason, I have to get out of the way? I am judging that you are in that runaway car, not judging why it's a runaway car. I don't know why you believe what you do; I just know that it's wrong, so I am just judging the information, not the person. 2 - Only God knows the heart. God reveals how we can know the heart. Not by our knowledge, but by His. It's not my power to know anyone, it's just how their heart looks in the light of the true Word of God. 3 - Because the above 2 statements are true, point 3 is untrue. You can say I wear a sandwich board or whatever else you want. I willingly signed up here so I will not cry about names you call me or any of the ways you curse my Savior. And from whence was this assurance supposed to come from? I love it. We were never really christians because when we "prayed the prayer" we never made sure it took. It ranges from 300+ to 30,000, depending on which source you use, with each denomination claiming it alone has the real Truth®. But, now I think there must be millions of christian denominations, each consisting of one and only one member, because I've seen so many claiming that they are the first Real Christian™ we've ever encountered. Well, duty calls and I really must be getting back to work. But, I'll stop back later to see how this thread progresses. Those are all the organizations that have been built up around the true Word, hiding and distorting people's view of it. To the person who says I blame God for not giving you a spirit of repentance: it's very simple. A truly born again person keeps repenting. That's right. When you are born with your old sinful nature, you are born not caring about God and not repenting. When you are born AGAIN, you are born a person with a spirit that just keeps on repenting. The word for repent in the Greek of the NT is in the active tense (forgive my little knowledge of the correct terminology). In other words, the word of God says, KEEP repenting for the Kingdom of God is at hand. That means you must always be in that state of humble repentance so that when Jesus returns, he will gather you with all those who have broken hearts and contrite spirits. If a person is saved, whenever the doubt comes up, which it will as long as we live in a world being influenced by the devil, they just get on their knees and repent again. Just confess their unbelief and press on in prayer. Take the doubting thoughts captive and hold them to the standard of the true Word of God. Perfect love casts out fear. God says to repent and believe and you will be saved. If I have doubt, I simply repent and believe. Right now, right here, in the moment I feel the doubting thoughts coming to mind. No one is supposed to presume upon God's mercy. He says He will have mercy on whom He will, not on those who just blindly throw out arguments that God "has to" save me because I prayed and went to church and so on. Even if you were an ordained minister, the fact is that if you stopped repenting and believing and trusting, you put yourself in the place of presuming upon God. That's pride and God hates it. Which doctrine are you spouting to be the true way. A Literalist of every strip (from the charismatic's to the Phelps) has it on gawds authority. What makes your belief any more or less true then theirs if theirs are also founded in the buybull? I'm sorry you have such a complex you don't feel you're worth a pile of dogshit on the bottom of someone's shoe. I'm sorry you believe yourself and others are so unworthy to even breath air. If I don't understand because it's confusing, then the author of the concept made a confusing concept, and God is the author of the concept so either God is confused or he intentionally made it confusing.
