Not a debate topic, but I post here so you can reply if you want. But not much to reply about ... except our common humanity.

Thanks for posting that. Interesting song. Will have to think about the words in more detail a little later.

Ironhorse may be to young to know much about Peter Paul abd Mary, or even Bob Dylan!

I checked in here to see what was going on

and I was pleasantly surprised when I opened this thread.

Thank you so much for posting the song ficino.

I was just having my first cup of coffee and looking out the window.

It is such a pertinent song about friendship and the ties that bond us together.

Again much thanks

and I hope you and all here have a great day.

Bob Dylan's Dream

While riding on a train goin’ west
I fell asleep for to take my rest
I dreamed a dream that made me sad
Concerning myself and the first few friends I had

With half-damp eyes I stared to the room
Where my friends and I spent many an afternoon
Where we together weathered many a storm
Laughin’ and singin’ till the early hours of the morn

By the old wooden stove where our hats was hung
Our words were told, our songs were sung
Where we longed for nothin’ and were quite satisfied
Talkin’ and a-jokin’ about the world outside

With haunted hearts through the heat and cold
We never thought we could ever get old
We thought we could sit forever in fun
But our chances really was a million to one

As easy it was to tell black from white
It was all that easy to tell wrong from right
And our choices were few and the thought never hit
That the one road we traveled would ever shatter and split

How many a year has passed and gone
And many a gamble has been lost and won
And many a road taken by many a friend
And each one I’ve never seen again

I wish, I wish, I wish in vain
That we could sit simply in that room again
Ten thousand dollars at the drop of a hat
I’d give it all gladly if our lives could be like that

Enjoy your day Ironhorse.

I don't know if this counts, but I love the wallflowers album Bringing Down the Horse. That's Dylan's boy

Never actually listened to Dylan but I will someday and see if he moves me in any way.

Not sure if this is your cuppa coffee IH, but this is one of the few Christian artists I like:

That particular song is very mellow, but his general style is dark country/folk/rock/something.

Here's a Swedish singer/songwriter who sounds a whole damn lot like a young Dylan, might just be a tad too modern for you, but here goes:

I suspect that you are a child of the 60's, like myself. Do you like Steppenwolf?

"looking for adventure..."

One thing about Dylan - he wasn't strong on writing bridges in his songs. Was that because he was more poet than songwriter?

Oh, Ironhorse...

Sorry for not being specific. Since ficino posted the link to Peter, Paul, and Mary, my post above was directed mainly to him. But am I the only one to put Steppenwolf's "Monster" high on their list?
