Once again the poster children of the Quiverfull movement are in the spotlight, this time because of admitted molestation of minors. It should be noted, Josh Duggar molested fellow underage family members and possibly church members, while technically a minor himself. Granted, the victims were well under the age of consent. They were also sleeping. But, to make reparations for his crimes that repeatedly occurred over the course of at least 3 years, he helped build a house, received further guidance of sorts from a “role mode”, and promised he would never, ever, ever, ever, ever, do it again.

In a statement, Josh Duggar said,”We spoke with the authorities where I confessed my wrongdoing, and my parents arranged for me and those affected by my actions to receive counseling,” the statement said. “I understood that if I continued down this wrong road that I would end up ruining my life.”

He understands he was on the path to ruin his life. He’s sorry. The victims? “We’ll be praying for everyone involved,” according to patriarch Jim Bob and wife Michelle. After all, according to most Christian faiths, your body belongs to God. What you do with it is your choice, but if you are harmed, God absorbs the hit points and you can continue on being strengthened spiritually from your ordeal.

Somebody needs to hold my bra. Seriously.

Yeah, what the actual fuck indeed. (I read your full text, btw.)

Brings up the old question that you and me just recently talked about - how much more should my life have sucked that I could have finally been made strong by god? And what if those abuse victims never feel "spiritually strengthened" at all?

It enrages me that some people "praying for them" appears to be the only "help" the victims are getting. And I'm sure that a lot of guilt tripping to forgive the abuser will be done too, probably has already been.

At least these things are being talked about and brought to public attention. People deserve to know what is going on.

ATI, IBLP and Bill Gothard...is all a freakin' cult. Seriously.

Check this out: https://mobile.twitter.com/SarahEvonne/status/601838249959620608

That's a worksheet from Gothard's ATI curriculum, which the Duggars and many other Quiverfull families use to homefool (referred to as such because very little education is actually involved) their offspring. The topic covered in this particular worksheet? ABUSE. Specifically, what you should do if you are being abused or suspect that someone else is. It's sickening, but hey, it's ok because JESUS. And FORGIVENESS.

More to the point, most of the people who follow the dog and pony show called 19 Kids and Give It Up Already are aware that Bill Gothard (founder and leader of the ATI cult) resigned from his post after allegations of sexual harassment from dozens of current and former employees. [Link here, goes to Christian site so use caution].

The real icing on the Josh Duggar sex scandal cake was that the cop that they reported the crimes to turned out of be a total pedo/kiddie porn collector. He's currently serving like 50 years on such charges.

"Jim Bob told police in 2006 that when Josh returned home in 2003, Jim Bob, accompanied by some of his church elders, took Josh to Arkansas State Trooper, Jim Hutchens. Jim Bob knew Hutchens personally. Hutchens did not take any official action and instead gave Josh a “very stern talk.” As In Touch magazine reports exclusively in this week’s issue, Hutchens is now serving 56-years in prison for child pornography. He took no action on the Duggar case." -- http://www.intouchweekly.com/posts/bombshell-duggar-police-report-jim-bob-duggar-didn-t-report-son-josh-s-alleged-sex-offenses-for-more-than-a-year-58906

Yeah, I ended up touching on the fact of the cop's rather laid back approach to a molesting teenager... I mean, it was the year 2005, not 1955. If I had taken my kid in to be dealt with for hurting children, a bunch of red flags would have gone off in my brain if the cop didn't book my kid. I think around the ten minute mark.
