Acolyte
1) When you were a xtian, did you fear hell a little or a lot? (If you would describe yourself as **never** fearing hell, please explain. Did your church not believe in it or did you personally dismiss it?) 2) What most contributed to your fear? Family, preaching (which brand), books, the bible or…? 3) Did you resolve your fear of hell before or after de-conversion? 4) How many years after de-conversion did you feel momentary twangs of fear? 1. Alot. I was extremely OCD about it. I didn't like hearing about hell, and it wasn't until a few years ago that I finally got on with my Christian life without repeating the sinner's prayer internally at random moments. 2. I think preaching contributed to it. However, I wasn't in church until second grade, so the fear must have started with my parents. One thing that didn't help is that my parents were frequently worried that I wasn't 'saved,' which certainly contributed to my worries. 3. I haven't fully resolved them. It's gotten worse since leaving, but I'm learning to live. 4. I've only been out for a few months. Of course, it's been a year since I stopped believing in hell.
