What a coincidence, I just read a novel entitled Darwin's Radio in which a retrovirus comes back to life from within our DNA and starts messing around with pregnancies. And yep the christians were calling it the Original Sin In that case the virus was actually an evolution management system (complicated story) but really we do have a lot of junk from billions of years of evolving and it's to wonder what would happen if the condition were right for the intact ones to come back to life. Imagine a disease no one has seen for a few million years, that would be pretty bad. Our immune systems might not be able to cope with it fast enough and you can't really get rid of it since it's incoded in our genes. Yay
