LosingMyReligion
A few days ago I was watching GMA, and Diane Sawyer interviewed Nancy Pelosi's daughter. NPD(I'll be acronyming that because I don't know her name) is doing a documentary about the evangelicals of America on HBO. She spent a year in the Bible belt and documented her entire journey, with Ted Haggard as her escort. Long story short she talked about how... 1.) She felt so sorry for Ted Haggard, because he was really nice to her the entire time. Yes, forget the fact that he help to institute anti-gay and lesbian policies while he is one himself... 2.) She also said that evangelicals have better sex lives than infidels(not those exact words)...One fundie guy said that he has sex with his wife everyday(and I'm certain she just lays there with a bored look in her eye while he jackhammers away...but she is probably doing it for the lord), and they all chime in about how sexually fulfilled they are. I almost expected them to go into detail.. 3.) NPD further stated that she now wants her son to be raised as an Evangelical, because... a.) quoting NPD, "Our secular culture is not providing great role models for our children. Who would you rather your child emulate, Jesus or Paris Hilton?" b.) NPD quote, "I don't want him to grow up unchurched. There is a certain stigma attached to that; furthermore, children raised in a secular environment tend to goto the extreme end of the secular lifestyle" Overall, I thought she was a moron and she really ticked me off. I will not be watching that documentary because it will obviously consist of a fundamentalist slant seeing as she's been "saved" since filming it. Y'know, if you want to be religious, fine. But don't make sweeping generalizations about those of us who don't need religion. I found her to be incredibly arrogant, snide, and condescending while putting on the Christian happy face. Lastly, if I had to choose between Jesus and Paris Hilton I would want another choice. She's the typical fundie. Now I regret voting for Nancy Pelosi...well, I didn't have too many other choices. Dave
....Now I regret voting for Nancy Pelosi...well, I didn't have too many other choices. Why? Just because the daughter is an idiot doesn't mean the mother is.

Just because the daughter is an idiot doesn't mean the mother is. Honestly, I don't know. I just presume she had to get that way somekind of way. Her commentary, while articulate, really pissed me off. I grew up "churched" and just because I am now non religious doesn't make me some amoral miscreant. She's christian and I'm as Atheist as one can get.

Yaoi Huntress Earth
That's just plain sad. I have problem with people who exalt the fundy christian lifestyle since a number of fundies I have known in my life are some of the most calous, thoughtless, and and apathetic people I've come across. It's makes me wonder about NPD's past.
