Ex-COG
Remember folks, Government and the "Goobers" are our EMPLOYEES not our fucking masters.. The Gov guys seem to think otherwise. Unfortunately, most American citizens are satisfied just thinking they are free. Freedom is defined as the ability to afford cheese doodles to scarf down while watching American Idol. StewartP
I can't remember who said it, but the quote goes something like: "losing your liberties is like losing your virginity. it gets easier each time" and also the song by the Manic Street Peachers: "If you tolerate this, then your children will be next" Have a look at life in the UK as the most surveilled population in the world. The article says: Per capita there are more surveillance cameras in the UK than any other country in the world - more than a million according to one recent estimate. The average city dweller can expect to be captured on film every five minutes. Almost 500,000 low budget CCTV kits have been bought in the last three years Apart from the failure of CCTV to make our lives any safer (In fact it makes us feel less safe - we think the streets must be dangerous, why else would they need cameras) there is now the trend for private citizens to put up cheap cctvs outside their homes. Who watches the watchers? This blog is interesting. Its mission statement is: This United Kingdom based blog attempts to draw public attention to, and comments on, some of the current trends in ever cheaper and more widespread surveillance technology being deployed to satisfy the rapacious demand by state and corporate bureaucracies and criminals for your private details, and the technological ignorance of our politicians and civil servants who frame our legal systems.
