The point is understated, that is why I am bringing it up, the book of Acts is the story of a cult. Think about it if these events were in the daily news it would be a nobrainer. Your meglamaniac authoritarin kook is non-other than the Apostle Paul! Anyone care to add? Argue??

No demur from the UK on that one.

The Romans and what remained of the Jews considered it a cult, and dramatically tried to squash it. One could consider that it is a story of a cult that grew to become the mainstream 'religion'. More disturbing is knowing that religion has always tried to control the state, and the state has usually always knuckled under due to fear of the uprising of the 'exciteable' class (FocusOnTheFamily, the 'moral majority', the rabid right, jihadists, etc).

Jihadists are the other branch of the Jesus cult, Islam... otherwise, Theodeseus made a good choice making Christianity the cult of choice for the Empire.

Nor from my little Gondorian province of Wisconsin. In fact, the entire Babble reads like both (bad) mythology and the scrawlings of a hardcore cult. Its leader ordering the deaths of all who do not obey and exhalting himself as the only way to The Truth™, leading (apparently) by great charisma and by playing on people's religious superstitions and fears, his followers almost frothing mad to spread the cult and devoted to this leader as if their lives depend on it - yeah, and we wonder where Rev. Moon or David Koresh got their inspiration

Xianity reads just like a deranged cult, and its leaders, who rail against cults all the time, are too blinded to see that they are doing the same dance, just to a different song.

Acts is two books in one. The Way/Saul stars in part one and Paul in part two. It's quite the deal. The twist is you're told they're the same person...but they're not. Shhhh! Don't tell anyone.

Part one stars the "church" of "The Way" (aka the guys from the Dead Sea Scrolls). Part two stars Paul. Not just any Paul but "fantasy" Paul. Oh boy. The basic plot is "What happens when someone tries to glue two opposing theologies they don't fully understand together into one horrific mess? The Acts of the Apostles (but mostly Paul)."

O.k.so a guy comesup to you says, "We were in this upperroom and suddenly cloven toungs of fire danced on the heads of these twelve guys..." Why does this sound like lunacy? Yet becauseit is in the Bible we accept it as the Word of God!
