Looking At Porn And Depressed.

I like looking at pornography because it feels good to orgasm, I think naked bodies are beautiful, and its a good way to kill feelings of boredom and loneliness. BUT... I find that I am often depressed after a session of pornography and masturbation. I don't like the way that the images pop into my mind's eye when I close my eyes. Blowshops, doggystyle and such... I end up feeling more lonely after I do it than I did before. I dunno, I just get a feeling of depression that comes over me, and I just want to sleep and avoid people. Also, I feel that porn use makes me look at women on the street and in the gym in a more sexual way.

Anyway, I wish I didn't look at porn. But I am not sure it is realistic to expect that I shall stop. When I get horny, I don't really think rationally, and even if I've promised myself not to do it, I do it anyway. I wish I had a girlfriend or a wife who I could be with instead of solo sex. Sex with others makes me happy and more connected with others rather than depressed and isolated. I don't know what to do. I wish I would quit porn use.

What do you think about my problem? Do any of you feel the same way?

If it's as big of a problem for you as you say it is, then I would suggest that you seek counseling.

If it isn't financially feasible for you to go to counseling, then perhaps you might be able to find some sites on the internet that deal with, or help people through what is considered to be pornography addiction.

I'm guessing that the help is out there. It's up to you to utilize it.

Good luck.

I get that feeling sometimes, however, I gather that's from feeling like the porn is a form of substitution. I also think that it's not really depression as it is more of a vague empty feeling that comes simply from the sudden vacating of sexual arousal following orgasm. IMO you can be with a dozen people and still get the same feeling. I also see images of women running though my mind afterwards, but, as an artist, I welcome it more often than not (though sometimes I don't).

Also, I feel that porn use makes me look at women on the street and in the gym in a more sexual way.
Ssss... ...so...? As I see, it, it really just changes the mental monologue from "I'd like to get to know her... ... so I can fuck her-- no, no no, I really just would like to see what's going on in her pants--er head! In her head! Dammit!" to "I'd like to fuck her, and if something happens after, then whatever." Cuts out the middle man and the bullshit, really. And frankly, I don't see a problem with viewing women as sex objects (Oh, I said it, Goddammit! Bring it!). Realistically, that's what we do at first anyway, men and women, we just like to think otherwise, because somehow that's wrong.

If you want something that's incompatible with looking at porn, if it is a compulsion that's stopping you from seeking something different, that's one thing. I would suggest looking for help, or imposing a period of restraint to find out where you stand with your addiction (It could well be an addiction, but that by itself doesn't make it bad). Otherwise, if you can manage it, then do that. As I understand, even people in serious relationships still look at porn and masturbate, and it doesn't hurt most of them.

Why is that wrong?

Seriously, ask yourself this. Looking at a woman purely out of sexual desire isn't wrong. It's a basic facet of natural human lustfulness, a drive without which few humans would procreate. Lust equals life, and is a vital force, in my opinion.

I can understand your loneliness, having sometimes felt that at times after a good whacking off. However, a satisfying session of masturbation aided by porn is by far more positive than a string of unsatisfying partners and encounters. Or worse, a bad long-term relationship, entered into out of the desperate desire to end one's loneliness. Had enough of those in my time, and I'd be happy with Rosie Palm and her favorite flicks any day women like the kinds I've had to kick to the curb.

What is key here is your satisfaction. You need to acquire that which will provide it reliably, and be careful how you look at the potential choices. A lasting relationship with a good woman is ideal, but good porn unashamedly enjoyed is a fine runner-up - and in a good relationship, you'd have both.

I'm not telling you what to do here, just to take a fresh look at things. Porn isn't bad, masturbating isn't bad, and not every relationship is good even if it promises to alleviate loneliness.

And you can turn off the porn anytime - try ending a bad relationship as easily

You shouldn't feel bad about looking at nubile buxom women as sex objects. That is precisely why they look that way, to appeal to the heterosexual male eye...thereby making him want to bang her thus ensuing the survival of the species. You are hardwired through evolution to, subconsciously, want to spread your genes...

Also, that feeling of emptiness you get after watching porn, I think, is just natural. When you're so horny and get that RELEASE it's like the thrill is over. I know when I bust one off I just feel really relaxed and lethargic...lol. Afterwards I just go right to sleep. I think the reason for feelings of "Depression" is because you realize that you are pleasuring yourself ALONE. It is easy to get off, but let's face it...it is even more fun to get off with someone.

Porn is great...just as long as you don't get addicted.

I like porn cuz the women don't get all demanding and complainy and shit and don't take up all your free time and space.

Yeah, but porn does fill up your hard drive pretty quick.

I sort of play a game of darwinism with my porn collection. Allot a certain amount of disk space, say, 20 gb. If the new porn I download isn't any better than the rest, I delete it. If it's up to standard, I save it, and delete the worst of my current collection. That way, my porn collection constantly evolves into a higher and higher porn collection.
