junkpoet
there was a thread a while back for songs...but i lost the thread. anyone have any poems that express x xian ideas? I know it seems more deist...but i like the poem. expresses the joy of staying home on a sunday morning and enjoying nature and the moment. Some keep the Sabbath going to Church- I keep it, staying at Home- With a Bobolink for a Chorister- And an Orchard, for a Dome- Some keep the Sabbath in Surplice- I just wear my Wings- And instead of tolling the Bell, for Church, Our little Sexton-Sings. God preaches, a noted Clergyman- And the sermon is never long, So instead of getting to Heaven, at last- I'm going, all along. emily dickinson
junkpoet
Rogation Day: Portrush I stop to consult my diary and think how queer That in my day farmers can be sincere Kneeling in stiff suits, their rough hands Joi8ned, praying for swaying cornlands, A big yield, reward for labour, a reply From the dumb planets and the gaseous sky. Upstairs my hands rip the shoulders of a kindly lady. Between the unholy boulders of her thighs I play Moses with my loins. Below, when the spinning disc stops, coins flow in Sportsland. Someone has picked the right slot in the one-armed bandit. I hear the jackpot, And I ejaculate and the girl-friend sighs. The farmers stand and rub their eyes For this is a miracle and all the walls are glass. They can see through the church and up my ass, And the boy waging his penny in the one-armed thief. Lord I am lucky: help thou their unbelief. James Simmons
