♦ nivek ♦
The new crime of thinking in the USHillsboro Times-Gazette by Gary Barnett "It looks like the term 'thought police' just might take on a whole new and real meaning. This depends on what happens in the U.S. Senate after receiving House bill H.R. 1955: Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007. This act (now S-1959 -- Senate version) is now being considered by Senate committees and, if passed by the Senate and signed by the president, will become law. Common sense would indicate that something this vague and dangerous would not make it out of committee, but considering that the House passed it on Oct. 23 with 404 ayes, six nays, and 22 present/not voting, I'm not holding my breath." Hammurabi
What the fuck? I mean what the fucking fuck? How dare the house pass this bullshit. Fuck the goverment, fuck the republicans, fuck the democrats. If this shit were law at the founding of our nation how would the civil rights movement have gained momentum? How would we have womens sufferage? How could our country have made any progress at all? The biggest threat to America is the American government, and there has never been an instance in this nations history of the government relinquishing it's authority in an area once it's helped itself to it. We are a nation of hypocrites, claiming to be on a mission to spread freedom throughout the world, while steadily eroding it in our own land. America: Land of the free-ish and home of the disenfranchised.
hereticzero
Bush had commented in his first run for President that a chief concern of his was 'how to prosecute thought.' I guess him and the other fascist figured out how. (Edited to change Police to Prosecute.)
Grandpa Harley
Time to report of 'Attitude Adjustment', since that is not Right-Think nor Right-speech. Please report to Room 101 summarily. thank you for your compliance in this matter.... INGSOC

Vigile
Ideologically based violence: This is good news. They just made most of America's foreign policy illegal.
Vigile
Is there any president that comes even close to being as bad as bush ? ( notice the lack of capitalization on "b" ) The problem with this is that this was a House bill. The House and Senate are currently under Dem control. It's not just Bush that's a demented fascist. It's the majority of the US gov. W just uses the bully pulpit and the rest just bow their heads and play along like the good little uncle Toms they are. woodsmoke
I'm reminded of the old proverb. Something to the effect of "Nobody's rights are safe when the congress is in session."
