Pope Benedict told a gathering of bishops they had "sometimes very badly handled" the decades-old problem of pedophile priests. But he urged efforts "to address the sin of abuse within the wider context of sexual mores". "What does it mean to speak of child protection when pornography and violence can be viewed in so many homes through media widely available today?" the Pope said on the first full day of his US visit. You cannot put responsibility of something that someone who committed a crime onto someone else because they did something you don't like, but is legal. The Catholic church is still not up to date on the fact that they are no longer on top of the heap and that no one is going to kiss their asses just because they are who they are. A Bishop, a Pope, a Protestant minister, a Rabbi, it does not matter who they are. If they assault children, they will pay the price, everyone will know they committed the crime and know them for the losers of the church they really are. The church is still in denial and it seems like all of the leaders are running for cover. It's like they are afraid their own names will come up. I just can't believe what a big deal is being made over his visit to the states anyway. He's just a leader of a false church. I do not respect him or any of his cronies. I couldn't ever make myself go back to the catholic religion. And of course our country is to blame for the priest's behaviors...yeah right. The pope and he RCC can kiss my ass. How the pope can claim knowledge in anything, or why he is regarded as intelligent is beyond me. He cannot be intelligent if he views everything through a strong catholic filter.
