Dirac
Amethyst, don't reply to pedants ;D What is so offensive about CHRISTHATER to a Christian? Can't they hack the fact that not everyone loves their deceased relic and some people thought he deserved to be nailed to that cross?
Sokudo Ningyou
Amethyst, don't reply to pedants ;D What is so offensive about CHRISTHATER to a Christian? Can't they hack the fact that not everyone loves their deceased relic and some people thought he deserved to be nailed to that cross? Uh.....no. Which is why they're still Christian. I, on the other hand, have spent maybe a grand total of eight hours in a church. No money wasted. I just spend it on other fun stuff at the porn shop. (And man, do I get a lot out of the changeable heads....)

Do you really think that anyone deserves to be nailed to a cross?
indoctrinated
Oh, it's good to know I'm not the only one who has felt angry at time and money wasted! But I also try to look on the positive side. I don't think that everything I've done as a Christian was wasted. Some of it was. But not all. There were real friendships and genuine community activities which were not thinly disguised attempts at proselytising (I always refused to take part in those, even in my most fundamentalist days!) I acquired a lot of useful skills like public speaking, leading discussions etc. But then. apart from when I was a child and didn't have that choice, I've gradually moved away from the more extreme churches to more moderate ones. Even so, I still get angry sometimes! My early indoctrination makes it hard for me at the moment to make an independent, guilt-free choice about just how much stuff to be involved in at church. Still working on that one!
Onyx
I never paid tithes to my churches since I said I had no money but I had money so the only thing I wasted was that of time.
pandora
LOL This reminds me of the exercise they have you do in AA and NA meetings... how much money did you waste on drugs? How much time? Etc... Depressing isnt it... For me, I didn't give much money away. Gave to Habitat for Humanity and sponsored a child once, but other than that, I didn't tithe consistently. As for time, good lord... I would say at least a few years. That doesn't include the time I spent talking to myself while I prayed.
I Broke Free
LOL This reminds me of the exercise they have you do in AA and NA meetings... how much money did you waste on drugs? A hell of a lot more than I ever gave to a church, that's for sure. Much of it wasn't even mine, that's the truly sad part.
